Ischemic strokes result from a decrease in blood flow to the brain. They are therefore a vascular phenomenon. It is possible that other events may be occurring.<\/p>\n<p>Like the heart. Heart attacks are known as ischemic. The CDC, however, is careful to point out that at the moment they do not have any. \u201csafety signal,\u201d Nothing definitive. Myocarditis can be caused by inflammation, not ischemia. Ischemia can affect any part of the body. For example, it could cause peripheral artery disease. Ischemia\u2013restricted blood flow\u2013can happen anywhere in the body, obviously. It\u2019s just that the heart and brain are the most vulnerable.<\/p>\n<p>The myocarditis risk is the cause of the problem. Given the higher prevalence in this age group, one would expect to see a sign in young men.<\/p>\n<p>This is a bad image for the CDC that will fuel suspicion. They will say they are being transparent to prove their credibility.<\/p>\n<p>My guess is that most people won\u2019t see it that way, fairly or not.<\/p>\n<p>UPDATE: \u201csafety signal\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/health\/2023\/01\/13\/pfizer-covid-vaccine-safety\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">In <strong>November<\/strong> They are only now revealing it.<\/a> Although they claim to be transparent, this is not a good sign. The WaPo downplays this, saying that they were looking into it and data doesn\u2019t confirm the signal, but the CDC itself says they are still studying the matter. This isn\u2019t exactly transparent in my book.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<div class=\"teaser-content grid-center\">\n<div class=\"article-body\" data-qa=\"article-body\">\n<p class=\"wpds-c-cYdRxM wpds-c-cYdRxM-iPJLV-css font-copy\" data-qa=\"drop-cap-letter\" data-el=\"text\">In November, a vaccine safety monitoring system detected a signal suggesting that the Pfizer coronavirus booster could be linked to an increase in stroke risk in those 65 years and older. But a deep dive into several large databases failed to confirm the preliminary information, leading federal health officials to conclude the risk is extremely low \u2014 and probably nonexistent, those officials said Friday.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"article-body\" data-qa=\"article-body\">\n<p class=\"wpds-c-cYdRxM wpds-c-cYdRxM-iPJLV-css font-copy\" data-qa=\"drop-cap-letter\" data-el=\"text\">According to officials from the agency who reviewed the background, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (whose system detected the early warning) and the Food and Drug Administration (which also assesses vaccine safety), they have decided not to alter the recommendation that all people 6 months and older keep up with their coronavirus vaccinations.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"article-body\" data-qa=\"article-body\">\n<p class=\"wpds-c-cYdRxM wpds-c-cYdRxM-iPJLV-css font-copy\" data-qa=\"drop-cap-letter\" data-el=\"text\">The signal was early and involved the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fda.gov\/emergency-preparedness-and-response\/coronavirus-disease-2019-covid-19\/covid-19-bivalent-vaccine-boosters#:~:text=The%20Moderna%20COVID%2D19%20Vaccine,monovalent%20Moderna%20COVID%2D19%20Vaccine.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">bivalent booster\u00a0<\/a>\u2014 which targets the original virus and omicron subvariants and became available starting in September \u2014 that is made by Pfizer and its German partner, BioNTech.
