(emphasis theirs).<\/p>\n<p>The paper was titled \u201cThe Myth of Reliable Research in Pediatric Gender Medicine,\u201d This article focuses on the two. <a href=\"https:\/\/linkinghub.elsevier.com\/retrieve\/pii\/S1743609515336171\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dutch<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/25201798\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">studies<\/a> The resulting \u201cDutch protocol\u201d This inspired the \u201cgender-affirming\u201d The Dutch model of care is now widely used. The Dutch protocol was frequently considered to be the more conservative and cautious approach to radicalization. \u201caffirming\u201d However, there is no reason to even select minor candidates for medically transition.<\/p>\n<p>According to the authors of the paper, the Dutch protocol \u2014 which used hormones and surgeries to give minors the appearance of secondary sex characteristics of the opposite sex \u2014 would never have been accepted by today\u2019s standards of evidence-based medicine because of its extremely low-quality research and harm caused to some of its participants.<\/p>\n<p>Before medicine was established, the three Amsterdam-based clinicians who medically treated gender dysphoric adolescents were practicing in the 1980s\/90s. \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Evidence-based_medicine\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">evidence-based<\/a>\u201d Practice and heavily relied upon \u201cexpert opinion.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This protocol is the reason it became the foundation. \u201cgender-affirming care,\u201d According to the authors, this is done through a phenomenon known as \u201crunaway diffusion,\u201d The medical community mistakenly considers a small experiment to be a proven practice. The harm done by \u201crunaway diffusion\u201d Systematic reviews of the evidence can be used to mitigate this problem and then implement it. \u201cpractice reversal,\u201d As <a href=\"https:\/\/genderreport.ca\/finland-strict-guidelines-for-treating-gender-dysphoria\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Finland<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/swedens-new-pediatric-treatment-guidelines-ditch-gender-affirming-medication-for-psychotherapy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sweden<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/englands-national-health-service-abandons-gender-affirming-model-of-care\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">England<\/a>Recent developments include the recent state of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/florida-medical-boards-vote-to-ban-medical-transition-for-minors\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Florida<\/a> The authors acknowledge that they did.<\/p>\n<p>The paper&#8217;s authors charge that the Dutch studies were biased in cherry-picking participants with positive or neutral outcomes and excluding participants with negative outcomes to make it appear as though there was an overall positive outcome. The Dutch studies were originally intended to determine whether the treatment was effective. \u201cimproved psychological functioning,\u201d But their research was not able to prove benefits. The goalposts were moved to a measure. \u201csatisfaction with treatment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Dutch studies reported only the best-case scenario outcomes while ignoring the serious risks that emerged; wrongly concluded that gender dysphoria \u2018disappeared\u2019 post-treatment; and failed to separate the effects of psychotherapy from those of blockers, hormones and surgery,\u201d SEGM <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/segm_ebm\/status\/1613619370173042688?s=20&#038;t=KocY_BQ5_K0hli-86QXiYw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Summary<\/a> In a tweet<\/p>\n<p>The authors discuss the numerous short-term studies published since the Dutch research. \u201cperfected the art of spin \u2014 misrepresenting weak, uncertain, or even negative findings as strong and positive,\u201d SEGM. SEGM also noted the lack of professionalism in political activism by gender-clinicians.
