Canada was not forced to ground its flights and the official said Canada\u2019s system is more modern.<\/p>\n<p>Thursday was a long day of flight delays due to NOTAM failures on Wednesday and Thursday. Over 600 flights from the U.S., into or out, were delayed. More than 80 flights were canceled on Thursday morning. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/livecoverage\/faa-flights-united-planes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Wall Street Journal<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n<p>The OPSGROUP is an industry group that has been criticizing NOTAMS since years. \u201cWe communicate the most critical flight information, using a system invented in 1920, with a format unchanged since 1924,\u00a0burying essential information that will lose a pilot their job, an airline their aircraft, and passengers their lives, in a mountain of unreadable, irrelevant bulls***,\u201d a 2017 blog post\u00a0from the group said.<\/p>\n<p>International Civil Aviation Organization, (ICAO) is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.icao.int\/about-icao\/Pages\/default.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Directed and funded<\/a> 193 national governments have pledged support for their diplomacy, cooperation and air transport. <a href=\"https:\/\/dc79a49f-80eb-4380-b716-e5a0b0fce3d4\/v\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Noted<\/a>\u00a0There are many notifications and coordination that must be done to ensure air traffic flows smoothly in 2021.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOn any given\u00a0day, there are some\u00a035,000 active NOTAM circulating in the global air transport\u00a0system.
