Some even suggest that conservatives have started another cultural war unnecessarily.<\/p>\n<p>Yet the idea that the federal government wants to ban gas stoves didn\u2019t <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/out-of-left-field-uscs-school-of-social-work-bans-the-word-field-because-its-racist-apparently\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">You can&#8217;t go wrong!<\/a>, and it didn\u2019t start this week.<\/p>\n<p>Richard Trumka Jr. was the Senate-confirmed United States Consumer Protection and Safety Commission (CPSC) commissioner. He expressed his desire for the products to be removed from the market and informed like-minded persons that the federal government could quickly regulate them. \u201cenough public pressure.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>During a webinar entitled \u201cPollution-free cooking for the holidays,\u201d Trumka shared with the non-profit consumer advocacy organization U.S. Public Interest Research Groups (USPIRG), the Biden administration&#8217;s approach to addressing the dangers of gas stoves inside.<\/p>\n<p>Trumka speaks with a group that he says he calls &#8220;on&#8221;. \u201cwithout fail\u201d For guidance on specific topics, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=kir_VBo6XEA&#038;embeds_euri=https%3A%2F%2Feditorial.dailywire.com%2F&#038;source_ve_path=MjM4NTE&#038;feature=emb_title\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><\/a>, \u201cI think we need to be talking about regulating gas stoves\u00a0 \u2014 whether that\u2019s drastically improving emissions or banning gas stoves entirely.\u201d<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Banning gas stoves didn\u2019t come out of left field. <\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s CPSC commissioner Richard Trumka, Jr. in December:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe ought to keep that possibility of a [gas stove] ban in mind, as you follow along, because it&#8217;s a powerful tool in our toolbox and it&#8217;s a real possibility here.\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/GSfjwLJPPG\">pic.twitter.com\/GSfjwLJPPG<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Tim Meads (@TimMeadsUSA) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TimMeadsUSA\/status\/1613548054690291712?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 12, 2023<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Trumka encouraged everyone \u201cto keep that possibility of a ban in mind\u201d While adding that regulatory authority \u201ca powerful tool in our toolbox and it\u2019s a real possibility.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Trumka informed USPIRG in March that the CPSC was opening a public comments period to make this dream a reality. Regularly, when a federal agency is considering a new regulatory rule, they invite the public \u2014 whether it be consumers, advocacy groups, or somebody else \u2014 to submit feedback and ideas that may help guide the rule-making decision before beginning the rule-finalizing process.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNow, this public request for information is the first step in what could be a long journey towards regulating gas stoves, but I\u2019m here to tell you that with enough public pressure, it doesn\u2019t have to be,\u201d Trumka <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=kir_VBo6XEA&#038;embeds_euri=https%3A%2F%2Feditorial.dailywire.com%2F&#038;source_ve_path=MjM4NTE&#038;feature=emb_title\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Proclamed<\/a>. \u201cWe could get a regulation on the books before this time next year.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Richard Trumka Sr., the son of the former union boss, admitted it was difficult, considering the slowness and inefficiency of the federal government. However, he promised to overcome any speed bumps with help from anti-gas stove Americans.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s absolutely possible,\u201d He said that new regulations would be enacted within 12 months. \u201cJust because the federal government isn\u2019t known for moving quickly \u2014 doesn\u2019t mean that it can\u2019t happen. And my number one goal as a commissioner is to push our agency farther and faster than it has ever moved.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Trumka, Jr. isn\u2019t treating this as a personal pet project either.<\/p>\n<p>December saw the sending of a joint letter by Senator Cory Booker (D\u2013NJ) to Congressman Donald Beyer, D-VA. \u201ccalling on the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) to take swift action to protect Americans from gas stove pollution,\u201d USPIRG summarizes the results.<\/p>\n<p>The letter recommended that heavy regulation be considered for gas stoves.<\/p>\n<p>Trumka, in a recent interview, stated that the controversy had exploded this week. \u201cany option is on the table\u201d Concerning the indoor cooking device. Trumka was serious about this comment, as you can see in the video of late last year. This is a serious policy possibility \u201csolution\u201d For him.<\/p>\n<p>Media outlets have claimed that there is no reason to be concerned, rather than pointing out that it was the Biden Administration and elected Democrats that launched this attack on gas stoves.<\/p>\n<p>Leftists point at the fact that Alex Hoehn Saric was Chair of the CPSC. \u201cI am not looking to ban gas stoves and the CPSC has no proceeding to do so\u201d as evidence that this couldn\u2019t become a reality.<\/p>\n<p>Yet just because Hoehn-Saric feels that way doesn\u2019t mean that others with authority, such as Trumka, aren\u2019t seriously considering it.<\/p>\n<p>It seems the Biden administration can technically say there\u2019s \u201cno proceeding\u201d to ban gas stoves because the public comment period hasn\u2019t started yet.\u00a0 That period will start in March and then the official rulemaking process begins.<\/p>\n<p>However, outlets like Axios remain open. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/2023\/01\/12\/gas-stoves-conservative-backlash\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Writing<\/a>, \u201cDespite official insistence that fears of a ban are unfounded, conservatives are suddenly championing\u00a0gas stoves in a new culture war.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Yet those fears aren\u2019t unfounded, and it wasn\u2019t conservatives who shot the opening salvo in this latest debate.
