Sarah Huckabee Sanders signed an executive order on her first\u00a0official day in office Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSchools must educate, not indoctrinate students; and their education policies must protect children and prepare them to enter the workforce\u2026 Teachers and school administrators should teach students how to think\u2014not what to think,\u201d Executive order <a href=\"https:\/\/mailchi.mp\/17801b559485\/sarah-huckabee-sanders-announces-campaign-for-governor-of-arkansas-14572831?e=b197a56b60\"><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"a8d-pre\">The order gives the state\u2019s\u00a0Department of Education the power to prevent\u00a0indoctrination and\u00a0critical race theory from being taught to\u00a0Arkansas students. It also prohibits employees and students from being forced to attend\u00a0training and orientations on\u00a0critical race theory. It will also empower parents to make\u00a0decisions for their children and \u201cfoster curriculum transparency in classrooms across the state.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>Sanders\u2019 order\u00a0describes\u00a0critical race theory as \u201cantithetical to the traditional American values of neutrality, equality, and fairness. It emphasizes skin color as a person\u2019s primary characteristic, thereby resurrecting segregationist values, which America has fought so hard to reject.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The order also directs the\u00a0Secretary of the Department of Education to \u201creview the rules, regulations, policies, materials, and communications\u201d The department \u201cidentify any items that may, purposely or otherwise, promote teaching that would indoctrinate students with ideologies\u201d such as\u00a0critical race theory.<\/p>\n<p class=\"a8d-pre\">Sanders, the former\u00a0White House press secretary under President Donald Trump,\u00a0was sworn in on Tuesday as Arkansas\u2019 47th governor.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>As governor, one of her\u00a0top priorities would be education reform legislation.
