However, while investigations have uncovered contact between Joe Biden And his son over the latter&#8217;s business activities, including when the president found out about his son\u2019s board seat at <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/nothings-gonna-change-wife-of-hunter-biden-welcomes-burisma-investigation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Burisma<\/a> and <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.newyorker.com\/magazine\/2019\/07\/08\/will-hunter-biden-jeopardize-his-fathers-campaign\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><\/a>, &#8220;I hope you know what you are doing,&#8221; The report states that Republicans have not been able to find the smoking gun in the full scope and extent of the investigations. <\/p>\n<p>For example, Weiss is also reportedly considering charging Hunter with lying to the U.S. government on a form he filled out in order to buy a handgun in 2018. His response was that he was <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/hunter-biden-gun-background-check-drugs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Do not use drugs<\/a> Although possible witnesses could be used to challenge the charge, such charges are rarely brought forward unless they are part of a larger investigation. According to the <i>New York Times<\/i>, Hunter\u2019s lawyers have given the <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/justice-department\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Justice Department<\/a> evidence of how the U.S. Attorney\u2019s Office in Delaware has never brought a stand-alone gun charge for lying about drug use. <\/p>\n<p>The other possible charges against President Donald Trump&#8217;s son, Hunter, include drug addiction. Hunter was reportedly reminded on Oct. 12, 2018, by Bill Morgan (his accountant), that he must file his 2017 personal as well as business tax returns. Of which, he owed more $800,000. Hunter purchased the gun that day. <\/p>\n<p>Morgan attempted to get Hunter&#8217;s attention once more, but he was ignored. Morgan also pointed out that Hunter needed to file his tax returns for 2016. Morgan assured Hunter that Morgan was sure of the outcome. <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/irs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">IRS<\/a> The instructor had <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/state-department\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">State Department<\/a> His outstanding tax liens prevented him from renewing his passport. The newspaper reports that Hunter was not able to pay his taxes and Weiss could charge Hunter. <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/opinion\/hunter-bidens-2m-sugar-brother\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The $2 million needed was borrowed<\/a> The IRS was paid in full. <\/p>\n<p>Although certain charges might be difficult to prosecute it doesn&#8217;t mean Republicans won&#8217;t use the new reporting to their advantage in trying to incriminate the president and impeach him. There are many details about Hunter&#8217;s relationships with China and Ukraine, including his participation on the board at Burisma Ukraine energy company and his previous stake in a Chinese newspaper. <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/restoring-america\/fairness-justice\/hunter-bidens-suspicious-chinese-business-investigated-republicans\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Chinese government-linked company<\/a> These are just two examples. He reportedly wrote a thank you letter to the younger Biden in 2015. It was written in broken English. &#8220;giving an opportunity to meet your father and spent some time together.&#8221; Republicans tried to draw a clear line between Hunter, a Chinese energy tycoon and the president. Hunter was also involved in a failed business venture. James Comer (R.KY), was named Republican chairman of the House Oversight and Accountability Committee and began his investigation into Hunter, Weiss revealed more details. <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/justice\/gop-gavel-end-treasury-stonewalling-hunter-biden-suspicious-activity\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Requirements<\/a> The <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/treasury-department\">Treasury Department<\/a> Remit all reports of suspicious activity pertaining to the son of the president. <\/p>\n<p>The U.S. Attorney&#8217;s Office is unable to determine if Hunter&#8217;s story about abuse, loss and failure will lead to prosecution.
