We now have an approved rules package. \u2018work\u2019 of our elected Representatives begins \u2013 or at least is supposed to. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The Fox News circuit was run by Congressman Jim Jordan from Ohio, indicating that the priority of the new Republican House majority will be to reduce bloated spending.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">What might be up for grabs? <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">No other than the Department of Defense. This department has the usual Republican warhawks and bizarrely promilitary spending Democrats. Abigail Spanberger (@RepSpanberger) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RepSpanberger\/status\/1612522329980170241?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 9, 2023<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">They won\u2019t tell you that the bulk of defense spending doesn\u2019t even go to the military branches in the first place, let alone all the trash programs that get added in the NDAA year after year that require funding for various consultants and new civilian bureaucracy to the system. <\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"subscribe\" class=\"email-signup inarticle\">\n<h4>Support Conservative Voices!<\/h4>\n<h5><strong>Register to Receive the Latest<\/strong> Get political news, insights, and commentary directly to your inbox<\/h5>\n<\/div>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">But luckily, dear reader, you have me, so let\u2019s dive into what Congressman Jordan had to say this week and what it might mean.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Include the Kitchen Sink<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Congressman Jim Jordan dropped his hints at cutting defense spending on both Larry Kudlow\u2019s show on Fox Business and \u201cFox News Sunday.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">He was right <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediaite.com\/news\/larry-kudlow-backs-jim-jordan-wanting-to-cut-defense-spending-a-lot-of-woke-in-that-budget\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">told Mr. Kudlow<\/a> that:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cEverything has to be on the table when you\u2019ve got a 30 some trillion dollars in debt and the interest payments are what they\u2019re going to be this fiscal year.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Fox News Sunday featured Shannon Bream discussing these debt payments. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/news\/2023\/jan\/8\/jim-jordan-previews-military-spending-cuts-under-g\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Explain.<\/a>:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cWe\u2019re on pace to spend $500, $600 billion in debt payments just to deal with interest payments.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">That\u2019s a lot of cheddar the American taxpayer and future generations are saddled with, thanks to our leader\u2019s inability to balance a budget. That means that Congressman Jordan has stated that everything must be examined, even the Pentagon budget.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Northrup Grumman doesn&#8217;t like the plan to decrease defense spending.https:\/\/t.co\/BQlLAYLrte&#8221;>pic.twitter.com\/BQlLAYLrte<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Ryan Grim (@ryangrim) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ryangrim\/status\/1611422298392887297?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 6, 2023<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h3><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Woke Programs and Bloated Genes<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediaite.com\/news\/larry-kudlow-backs-jim-jordan-wanting-to-cut-defense-spending-a-lot-of-woke-in-that-budget\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jordan rebutted the norm<\/a>The robotic response to any hint that the Pentagon budget is being cut by $800 billion, it said:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cYou got to look at everything and you do it in a way that doesn\u2019t hurt our troops. Make sure our men and women in uniform get the pay raise they deserve.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">No doubt nobody is in favor of cutting the pay of service members, especially given that so many were forced to go on food stamps this past year due to President Biden\u2019s inflation. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Jordan points out two areas that should be cut.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cBut we do have to look at General, officer ratio to enlisted individuals.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">That is quite fascinating. It takes a lot of work to find the current number, <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Last year, 653 Generals were in the midst of the armed forces. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thesoldiersproject.org\/generals-in-the-us-military\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">There are four branches<\/a> Service, 963 if the Generals are added <a href=\"https:\/\/sgp.fas.org\/crs\/natsec\/R44389.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">External commands can be assigned<\/a> like joint special commands.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">With 1.4 Million <a href=\"https:\/\/worldpopulationreview.com\/country-rankings\/military-size-by-country\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Active Duty<\/a> About one General per 1,500 troops is made up of military personnel. Here&#8217;s a quick breakdown of the costs.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">$535,000 on extremism training<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">$476,874 for diversity training<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Climate Change Training: $5,000<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Imagine that those were the only costs. In that case, I\u2019ll remind you that this same department failed its fifth consecutive audit showing that it cannot account for 60% of its assets.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>How much? $2 <em>Trillion<\/em>. It would be, according to the hysterical defense cheerleaders. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/defense-national-security\/house-gop-divided-defense-cuts\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u201ccut<\/a>\u201d 10% of the budget will be at approximately $75 billion.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Keep in mind that the most recent defense bill is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/williamhartung\/2023\/01\/09\/will-the-freedom-caucus-tank-the-pentagon-budget\/?sh=731a7fda3baf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Additional<\/a> $45 billion more than what the Department of Defense requested, and an astounding $85 billion <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/policy\/defense\/3777365-defense-budget-skyrockets-as-progressives-lawmakers-clamor-for-change\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">More<\/a> So everyone should be included, rather than just the President.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Rep. Roy and his fellows secured the commitment of Speaker McCarthy to make FY 2024 the biggest discretionary spending cuts EVER.<\/p>\n<p>Like clockwork, the big spending neocons and military industrial complex claim that this means reducing defense spending<\/p>\n<p>This is a liar.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Rep. Chip Roy Press Office (@RepChipRoy) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RepChipRoy\/status\/1612300116412751873?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 9, 2023<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Data for Progress Poll revealed that 55% Americans are satisfied with their current situation. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dataforprogress.org\/blog\/2022\/6\/7\/americans-widely-reject-proposals-for-more-pentagon-spending\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Are you concerned?<\/a> Concerns about the bloated defense bill, especially those exceeding $800 billion. This year\u2019s defense bill was $858 billion.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Additionally, most of this bloated money doesn\u2019t even go to the Pentagon in the first place. The Security Policy Reform Institute estimates that 55% of defense funding is spent on bloated funds. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.commondreams.org\/news\/2021\/12\/31\/pentagon-projected-hand-407-billion-private-military-contractors-fiscal-year\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Go to<\/a> Private-sector contractors in the military between 2002 and 2021\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">It\u2019s easy to fall into the trap of believing that cutting military funding would destroy our military lethality. But, unfortunately, our military isn\u2019t as lethal as the war hawks want you to believe.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">I have little faith that Congress will change the way defense contractor lobbyists control defense.
