Later that day, the Facebook representative informed White House that the matter was being investigated by the company. \u201cTucker Carlson video does not qualify for removal under [Facebook\u2019s] policies,\u201d The clip would be labelled by the company \u201ca pointer to more authoritative COVID information\u201d and limit its reach on this platform.<\/p>\n<p>Facebook\u2019s efforts did not meet the administration\u2019s demands for greater censorship, however. In response to the representative, White House Director of Digital Strategy Robert Flaherty questioned how Carlson\u2019s video didn\u2019t violate Facebook\u2019s existing policies and pressured the company to turn over information on the efficacy of its censorship practices.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHow was this not violative? The second half of the segment is raising conspiracy theories about the government hiding that all vaccines aren\u2019t effective,\u201d Flaherty <a href=\"https:\/\/www.agjefflandry.com\/Files\/Shared\/Documents\/FBTC17461-63Redacted.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Claim<\/a>. \u201cMoreover, you say reduced and demoted. What does that mean? There\u2019s 40,000 shares on the video. Who is seeing it now? How many? How effective is that?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNot for nothing but last time we did this dance, it ended in an insurrection,\u201d Flaherty added in an apparent reference to the platform\u2019s handling of claims pertaining to the outcome of the 2020 presidential election and subsequent riot at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.<\/p>\n<p>But the Biden White House\u2019s habit of using Big Tech to silence dissenting voices on Covid-related information didn\u2019t just stop at Carlson. Separate emails from the Missouri and Louisiana Attorney Generals show a coordinated effort between the administration to lower the number of users. \u201cvirality of vaccine hesitancy content,\u201d Even if the posts were factually correct,<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs you know, in addition to removing vaccine misinformation, we have been focused on reducing the virality of content discouraging vaccines that does not contain actionable misinformation,\u201d Slavitt was informed by a Facebook representative that the site is available in English. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AGAndrewBailey\/status\/1612623327247450113?s=20&#038;t=NCMNcoHB4BIynEun-YOI9g\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Email, March 21, 2021<\/a>. \u201cThis is often-true content, which we allow at the post level \u2026 but it can be framed as sensation, alarmist, or shocking.
