He called the defeats in 2022 an election cycle &#8220;deaths&#8221;. \u201cthe final nail in the coffin.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter much reflection, I regret to inform you that I have chosen to retire as FDP Chair, effective immediately,\u201d Diaz wrote in a <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NewsGuyGreg\/status\/1612609767633043456\">Let me know<\/a> To fellow Democrats \u201cIt has been a pleasure and honor to work with you, and, rest assured, I will continue to fight with you to get Democrats elected.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Diaz was the mayor of Miami between 2001 and 2009. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/WCJB20\/status\/1348041869234737153\">elected<\/a> After disappointing results, I was elected as the Florida Democratic Party&#8217;s chair in January 2021. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.miaminewtimes.com\/news\/florida-democrats-discuss-party-changes-for-2022-election-11724600\">Results<\/a> In 2020&#8217;s general elections. After Republicans won every state race on the 2022 ballot, his departure is a sad one.<\/p>\n<p>Florida Governor is the candidate for governor. Ron DeSantis <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/floridas-desantis-delivers-knock-out-punch-to-democrat-crist_4850037.html\">Re-elected<\/a> A margin of <a href=\"https:\/\/floridaelectionwatch.gov\/StateOffices\/Governor\">19%<\/a> Charlie Christ, Democratic challenger to the Democratic Party, won even <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/freedom-is-here-to-stay-says-desantis-in-victory-speech-after-securing-2nd-term_4851849.html\">You are the winner<\/a> Historic Democratic strongholds like Palm Beach County and Miami-Dade County were once strongholds.<\/p>\n<p>Following the November elections, the supermajority of Republicans was also achieved in both chambers and the state legislature. <a href=\"https:\/\/ballotpedia.org\/Florida_House_of_Representatives_elections,_2022\">85 seats<\/a> In the 120-member House <a href=\"https:\/\/ballotpedia.org\/Florida_State_Senate_elections,_2022\">28 seats<\/a> The Senate is made up of 40 members.<\/p>\n<p>Florida will also send more Republicans to Congress as a congressional delegation following the midterms. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/republicans-sweet-all-5-competitive-us-house-races-in-florida_4847804.html\">Sweeping<\/a> All five of the competitive House races. The composition of the delegation now has a 20-8 Republican majority. <a href=\"https:\/\/ballotpedia.org\/United_States_House_of_Representatives_elections_in_Florida,_2020\">16-11<\/a> The 2020 elections will see the Republican lead.<\/p>\n<p>Sen. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/t-marco-rubio\">Marco Rubio<\/a> (R-Fla.) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/sen-rubio-rolls-to-third-term-dashing-demingss-florida-upset-bid_4845730.html\">Rolling<\/a> To a third term in office by defeating the Democrat challenger <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/t-val-demings\">Val Demings<\/a> By <a href=\"https:\/\/floridaelectionwatch.gov\/FederalOffices\/USSenator\">16 percentage points<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Florida Republicans are proud to be under Diaz <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/florida-gov-desantis-officially-files-paperwork-for-reelection-bid_4092782.html\">Unsurpassed<\/a> Democrats in voter registration.<\/p>\n<h2><b>Let us know<\/b><\/h2>\n<p>Diaz stated in his letter that the Florida Democratic Party \u201chas been rendered practically irrelevant to the election of Democrats,\u201d He also said that it was difficult to secure funding and find volunteers for the project, as well as to deliver effective messaging.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe cannot win elections if we continue to rely on voter registration to drive turnout, build field operations only around elections, and expect to get our vote out without engaging voters where they live,\u201d He wrote.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDuring my tenure, I hoped to address these issues, and build a united party without silos, focused exclusively on our purpose\u2014to elect Democrats,\u201d He concluded. \u201cInstead, I found obstacles to securing the resources and a longstanding, systemic and deeply entrenched culture resistant to change; one where individual agendas are more important than team; where self-interest dominates and bureaucracies focus on self-preservation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Washington was also responsible for recent electoral losses.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWashington continues to believe they are better equipped to determine our campaign strategy, target universe, messaging, staff hiring and firing decisions,\u201d Diaz wrote.<\/p>\n<p>He continued, \u201cMy \u2018choice\u2019 to hire coordinated staff was no choice; my decision to replace underperforming staff midway through the campaign was rejected. Coordinated staff made it clear; they worked for Washington, not the FDP.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He said that eventually, \u201ca broken, unsustainable system was exposed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMaybe it is not always about trying to fix something that is broken. Maybe it is about starting over and creating something better,\u201d He concluded. \u201cI wish my successor Godspeed.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2><b>Resignation calls<\/b><\/h2>\n<p>Many people called for Diaz to resign after the Nov.8 elections.<\/p>\n<p>The Democratic Progressive Caucus of Florida issued an ahref=&#8221;https:\/\/progressivefl.org\/the-democratic-progressive-caucus-of-florida-demands-the-immediate-resignation-of-the-chair-of-the-florida-democratic-party\/&#8221;>statement<\/a> on Nov. 9 calling for Diaz\u2019s immediate resignation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFlorida Democratic Party Chair Manny Diaz, who two years ago promised everything, delivered on none of it. The results of this election are direct evidence of a vacuum in leadership that can not be allowed to continue,\u201d The group wrote.<\/p>\n<p>It was also added. \u201cChair Diaz never understood the electorate, the timely need for outreach, registration, and community participation. There was no outreach plan for FDP\u2019s most reliable voters, including minorities, youth, and progressives.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf Chair Diaz has any decency, he will step down and let us build a state party that works for all Floridians,\u201d The group was concluded.<\/p>\n<p>Diaz made it clear on Facebook that he wanted to keep the job a few more days later.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI joined you in this mission to reverse the trends of the past 10-20 years. I am still committed to that end and refuse to give up when the going gets tough. That is not in my nature,\u201d Diaz <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/FormerMiamiMayorMannyDiaz\/posts\/pfbid0aGiQ8LgZD4NHBNvdAExwPtpjAPwaDXKRErN1ubrr4cgU8swLsF77jswDJePJugcol\">Write<\/a>. \u201cI will continue to fight alongside you for the next two years and beyond.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Thomas Kennedy, a Florida Democratic National Committee member who <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/tomaskenn\/status\/1586350278357426176\">Has<\/a> been calling for Diaz to resign, welcomed Diaz\u2019s decision to step down.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFL Dems can turn things around but it will take a long term plan, cohesive economic messaging that appeals to working people, year round voter registration, permanent offices offering tangible services to community members and electing down-ballot candidates to build a bench,\u201d Kennedy <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/tomaskenn\/status\/1612585167884804096\">Write<\/a> On Twitter, Jan. 9.<\/p>\n<p>State Rep.
