He encouraged fellow central bankers. \u201cstick to our knitting\u201d And not \u201cwander off to pursue perceived social benefits that are not tightly linked to our statutory goals and authorities.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSome analysts ask whether incorporating into bank supervision the perceived risks associated with climate change is appropriate, wise, and consistent with our existing mandates,\u201d Powell stated. \u201cAddressing climate change seems likely to require policies that would have significant distributional and other effects on companies, industries, regions, and nations. Decisions about policies to directly address climate change should be made by the elected branches of government and thus reflect the public\u2019s will as expressed through elections.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Recently, the Federal Reserve introduced programs to assess perceived \u201cclimate-related financial risks.\u201d Policymakers <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/federal-reserve-will-evaluate-climate-related-financial-risks-with-help-from-bidens-new-climate-officer\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">unveiled<\/a> an initiative with six of the nation\u2019s largest banks to examine various risk scenarios posed by climate change, although no \u201ccapital consequences\u201d The exercise would produce results. Officials also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/bidens-treasury-advisory-committee-on-racial-equity-to-be-led-by-defund-the-police-advocate-former-philadelphia-mayor\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Announcement<\/a> plans to work with the Treasury Department to consider the private sector\u2019s approach to climate risk.<\/p>\n<p>Other nations\u2019 central banks, including the Bank of England, have formerly conducted <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bankofengland.co.uk\/stress-testing\/2022\/results-of-the-2021-climate-biennial-exploratory-scenario\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Similar initiatives<\/a> It was created to assist executives in navigating a transition towards an economy that produces zero net emissions.
