That\u2019s because they don\u2019t like to be challenged or even politely questioned openly. They know their dumb ideas can\u2019t stand up to scrutiny, so instead of rethinking and revising those dumb ideas they look for ways to \u2018win\u2019 Silence the opposition to the debate<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Since it is more difficult to silence the opposition on Twitter, some leftists have taken the silly step of blocking anyone who disagrees with their views. This is especially true of the Covidian Left, whose notoriously thin skin makes Donald Trump\u2019s notoriously thin skin seem like rhinoceros hide.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>If you want an example of this, simply go to a random Covidian\u2019s 2,476th post about how everyone should \u201cmask up\u201d You can avoid the literal plague by posting a counter-reply with data and\/or mockery. If that reply gains any traction at all &#8211; and sometimes even if it doesn\u2019t &#8211; you\u2019ll be blocked faster than you can say \u201cFauci ouchie,\u201d never again granted the privilege of seeing that Covidian\u2019s wise and virtuous tweets (without a burner account anyway).<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ve found this out the hard way more times than I can count, probably because I have a hard time abiding stupidity and I just can\u2019t leave well enough alone. I find the pro-mask stuff particularly disgusting. It was bad enough in 2020. But 2023 is a different story. A bird-beak-wearing plague physician from the Middle Ages with a desire to heal your ailments with bloodletting and a good tonic of arsenic, mercury, and bloodletting has the same scientific credibility. These morons just won\u2019t let it go, and countering their nonsense has become a civic duty at this point. This is what triggers THEIR \u2018civic duty,\u2019 This is to immediately stop me.<\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">These are some examples: I was responding to a Covidian who posted a photo of her negative test, and then absurdly claiming that party guests would need to do the same.\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SKMorefield\/status\/1607076217773232129\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Write<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, \u201cI\u2019d hate for someone to get a sniffle. Can\u2019t be too careful.\u201d Blocked. In response to a Covidian telling us how she managed to avoid Covid until she couldn\u2019t avoid it any longer, I empathetically\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SKMorefield\/status\/1604497001718362113\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Write<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, \u201cMy instinct is to make fun of you but what I feel is sadness for you. Imagine living this way for years to avoid a cold. It\u2019s unsustainable, as you\u2019ve found out, and even if it \u2018worked,\u2019 you\u2019ve now wrecked your immune system. How could all that be worth it?\u201d Again, blocked. A Covidian asked those still hiding to respond. \u201craise their hand,\u201d I\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SKMorefield\/status\/1604229138839224323\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Just to be clear<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0It was \u201can IQ test\u201d They \u201cfailed miserably.\u201d Predictably, Blocked. Heck, I\u2019ve even been\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SKMorefield\/status\/1604334548745158657\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">blocked<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0by Taylor Lorenz and to my recollection, I\u2019ve never once engaged with her feed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Enter \u201cDr.\u201d Lucky Tran, a leftist \u201cscience communicator\u201d Columbia University. He is an ardent follower of the masking group. I thought I was following the trend with this guy, even though he had an especially snarky reaction to me.\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/luckytran\/status\/1609710707871780867\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">One of his calls<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0For more than just masking, but for a return mandate to mask. Just trying to be helped out of a genuine concern for this clown\u2019s state of mind, I\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SKMorefield\/status\/1609895203317448704\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Please reply<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, \u201cMasks and mask mandates would make zero difference regarding transmission. Zero. You are in a cult. Seek help.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Tran followed me thereafter. I then followed him back, because I\u2019m always open to dialogue and debate with those who disagree with me. Another Tran post caught me eye shortly after.<\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cA leftist told me their excuse for not masking was that shaming individuals were not a good way to build solidarity,\u201d He wrote. \u201cYou know what breaks solidarity? Locking the most vulnerable out of society because you won\u2019t do the bare minimum.\u201d Which I\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SKMorefield\/status\/1610721029952765959\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Please reply<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, \u201cYour or anyone else\u2019s health is not my responsibility. If the vulnerable think masks work, they are welcome to wear as many masks as they like, or even a respirator or hazmat suit. Nobody is stopping them.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">What did it mean? Insta-block! I\u2019m thinking Tran had meant to block me on the previous post but accidentally clicked \u2018follow\u2019 instead. Fine. He has the full right to do this. However, it only reinforces my point about how conservatives embrace debate and leftists suppress it to protect their infuriating, untenable positions.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Many people have posted to my Twitter timeline to criticize me, make fun of me, and call me names (that cuts deep Shrek!). Unless they are an obvious bot &#8211; and by obvious bot I mean some glamour shot with 0 followers whose profile says to contact her for a great time &#8211; I don\u2019t block them. When I have time, I occasionally even engage them in the discussion, because that\u2019s what Twitter is supposed to be about.
