The Biden administration has already moved to preempt claims of hypocrisy by leaking the existence of a Justice Department investigation into the matter, but it is much too late to undo the double standard that led to the FBI raiding Trump\u2019s Florida home last year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAttorney General Merrick Garland has assigned the U.S. attorney in Chicago to review classified documents found at the Penn Biden Center for Diplomacy and Global Engagement in Washington, two sources with knowledge of the inquiry told CBS News,\u201d yesterday\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/biden-center-classified-documents\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Breaking<\/a> News story opens. Richard Sauber was an aide to President Biden and was reportedly employed by the White House in May 2022. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2022\/05\/14\/politics\/biden-white-house-richard-sauber-republican-investigations\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Help<\/a> in the administration\u2019s response to any potential Republican-led investigations, confirmed to CBS News that the classified documents were discovered on Nov. 2, 2022.<\/p>\n<p>According to Sauber, while Biden\u2019s personal attorneys \u201cwere packing files housed in a locked closet to prepare to vacate office space at the Penn Biden Center in Washington, D.C.,\u201d They found the documents. CBS News was told by unnamed sources that the classified documents were found in a folder inside a box containing unclassified papers.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>CBS News stated that the sources were not revealing any information. \u201cwhat the classified documents contain[ed] nor their level of classification,\u201d CNN will follow <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2023\/01\/09\/politics\/joe-biden-classified-documents-upenn\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported<\/a> That \u201cthe classified materials included some top-secret files with the \u2018sensitive compartmented information\u2019 designation, also known as SCI, which is used for highly sensitive information obtained from intelligence sources.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The president is particularly embarrassed by the discovery that Biden had classified documents stored at a private D.C. think-tank, given his September 2022 comments to Scott Pelley. \u201c60 Minutes.\u201d Biden was asked his reaction to photos of documents bearing classification markings that were seized at Mar-a-Lago. He replied that he was puzzled. \u201cHow that could possibly happen,\u201d And \u201chow anyone could be that irresponsible.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI thought,\u201d Biden stated to Pelley \u201cWhat data was in there that may compromise sources and methods?\u201d \u201cIt\u2019s just totally irresponsible,\u201d Biden continues to be a force.<\/p>\n<p>Biden hasn&#8217;t yet spoken out about the discovery of classified documents. He ignored reporters&#8217; questions. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2023\/01\/09\/politics\/joe-biden-classified-documents-upenn\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Coverage<\/a> His Mexico City summit is over, and his administration is already spinning it. One Biden source told CNN that the president\u2019s \u201clawyers immediately contacted the National Archives and Records Administration, which started looking into the matter.\u201d \u201cBiden\u2019s team cooperated with NARA, which later came to view the situation as a mistake due to lack of safeguards for documents,\u201d According to an unnamed source, the claim was made.<\/p>\n<p>The similarities between these situations are striking.
