They promote the use of pronouns, using bathrooms based on gender identity, and support &#8216;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.oregon.gov\/ode\/students-and-family\/equity\/civilrights\/Documents\/ODE-Gender-Affirming-Care-Resources.pdf\">gender affirming care<\/a>&#8220;For minors.&#8221; It also contains links for children with information on &#8216;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tandfonline.com\/doi\/pdf\/10.1080\/26895269.2022.2100644\">Tucking&#8217; and &#8216;chest binding<\/a>&#8216;.&#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\"><\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/content.govdelivery.com\/accounts\/ORED\/bulletins\/340c2a0\">Colt Gill, Oregon Department of Education Director<\/a> said, &#8220;It is our responsibility to move beyond mere tolerance and inclusion toward respectful, affirming, and celebratory school communities where all students belong and succeed.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>This new guidance comes at a time when Oregon students are falling behind in reading proficiency.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.oregonlive.com\/education\/2023\/01\/too-many-oregon-children-cant-read-should-districts-be-forced-to-drop-discredited-curriculum.html\">Oregon Live reports that<\/a> &#8220;A staggering 61 percent of third graders and 54 percent of seventh graders aren\u2019t fully proficient at reading, including 30 percent of seventh-graders found to be substantially below grade level&#8221; Beaver State<\/p>\n<p>These are the measures of success. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oregon.gov\/ode\/students-and-family\/equity\/civilrights\/Pages\/Gender-Identity-Guidance.aspx?utm_medium=email&#038;utm_source=govdelivery\">Guidance<\/a> Include telling students &#8220;You have the ability to change your first name in your school record and student information system, without legal documentation&#8221;  &#8220;You have the ability to change your sex\/gender marker in your school record and student information system.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;You have the ability to use school restrooms and changing rooms that align with your gender identity or safety needs,&#8221; According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oregon.gov\/ode\/students-and-family\/equity\/civilrights\/Documents\/ODE-Supporting-LGBTQ2SIA-Students.pdf?utm_medium=email&#038;utm_source=govdelivery\">Guidance<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Students are also informed about the guidance. &#8220;date who you want, if you want&#8221; Students can form groups focused on LGBTQ2SIA+.<\/p>\n<p>Students will find guidance and textbooks in the plan. &#8220;inclusive and affirming information about the LGBTQ2SIA+&#8221; Educate the students about community activities that they can take part in &#8220;sports, PE, and school activities according to your gender identity.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;If you are 15 or older, you have the ability to seek gender-affirming healthcare from an Oregon medical provider,&#8221; According to the resource list, students can get help with their mental health if they&#8217;re 14 years old or older and obtain birth control if needed. &#8220;any age.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The guidance contains a list of places students can get assistance. &#8220;gender affirming care&#8221; This includes information on &#8220;tucking&#8221;  &#8220;chest binding.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The recent guidance release is part of Oregon&#8217;s larger\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.oregon.gov\/ode\/students-and-family\/equity\/LGBTQ2SIAStudentEducation\/Pages\/LGBTQ2SIA--Student-Success-Plan.aspx?utm_medium=email&#038;utm_source=govdelivery\">LGBTQ2SIA+ Student Success Plan<\/a>\u00a0This was created in 2020 &#8220;amidst the global COVID-19 pandemic.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Thursday The Oregon Department of Education Released Guidance for Schools Get better support &#8220;Gender Expansive Students&#8221; These policies include pronoun and bathroom policies.\u00a0Radical gender ideology Include links for minors to search &#8220;gender-affirming healthcare&#8221;\u00a0 LibsofTikTok Post &#8220;Oregon Dept of Education released new guidelines on affirming LGBTQ+ students.
