Version: 4.0.47-->\n<p>The filming of the sequel to the highly-anticipated movie is expected to begin within the next few months. \u201cPassion of the Christ\u201d Mel Gibson and Mel Gibson work on several drafts of the screenplay.<\/p>\n<p>According to reports, the 67-year old actor, director, and producer has been working on The. \u201cThe Passion of the Christ: Resurrection,\u201d For almost a decade, a sequel to Gibson&#8217;s hit film of 2004 was released.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www1.cbn.com\/cbnnews\/entertainment\/2023\/january\/mel-gibsons-passion-of-the-christ-sequel-resurrection-to-begin-production-this-spring\">CBN News.com<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGibson has been hard at work on the screenplay with \u2018Braveheart\u2019 screenwriter Randall Wallace,\u201d Veteran film journalist Jordan Ruimy shared.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere have already been six drafts,\u201d Ruimy was added. \u00a0\u201c\u2018Resurrection\u2019 would focus on the twenty-four hours encompassing Jesus\u2019 passion and the events that occurred three days between his crucifixion and resurrection.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The outlet reported that Jim Caviezel would be reprising the role of Jesus, alongside several original stars like Maia Morgenstern playing Mary, Christo Jivkov portraying John, and Francesco De Vito portraying Peter.<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Mel Gibson&#8217;s Passion of the Christ 2 sequel will begin filming in 2023, a href=&#8221;https:\/\/t.co\/foVyyWeXcW&#8221;>https:\/\/t.co\/foVyyWeXcW<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Washington Examiner (@dcexaminer) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/dcexaminer\/status\/1611926321369579525?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 8, 2023<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Wallace was interviewed by the ahref=&#8221;https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/news\/general-news\/mel-gibson-planning-passion-christ-901299\/&#8221;>Hollywood Reporter<\/a> The \u201cevangelical community considers The Passion the biggest movie ever out of Hollywood, and they kept telling us that they think a sequel will be even bigger.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI always wanted to tell this story \u2026 The Passion is the beginning, and there\u2019s a lot more story to tell,\u201d He concluded.<\/p>\n<p>Gibson had previously spoken out about the size of the subject and said that it would take a while to tell the story.https:\/\/www.christianpost.com\/news\/mel-gibson-tells-greg-laurie-passion-of-the-christ-sequel-the-resurrection-may-be-next-movie-168722\/&#8221;>Christian Post<\/a> noted.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s called The Resurrection,\u201d The star shared the moment. \u00a0\u201cOf course, that\u2019s a very big subject and it needs to be looked at because we don\u2019t want to just do a simple rendering of it \u2014 you know, read what happened.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut in order to read it, experience and explore probably deeper meanings of what it\u2019s about, it\u2019s going to take some doing and Randall Wallace is up to the task,\u201d He concluded. \u201cHe is also, as well as a brilliant writer, he is a great director.
