Some farmers argue that manufacturers have created their own systems so that farmers can go to specific locations to repair their products. Deere has basically <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/markets\/commodities\/farm-bureau-deere-co-sign-mou-ensuring-farmers-right-repair-equipment-2023-01-08\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Requirements<\/a> Farmers can seek repairs in their own divisions, or authorized dealers can access the technology to provide more information to farmers.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cIt addresses a long-running issue for farmers and ranchers when it comes to accessing tools, information and resources, while protecting John Deere\u2019s intellectual property rights and ensuring equipment safety,\u201d AFBF President Zippy Duvall <a href=\"https:\/\/www.msn.com\/en-xl\/news\/other\/us-farmers-win-right-to-repair-john-deere-tractors\/ar-AA166A1b\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Deere looks forward to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.msn.com\/en-xl\/news\/other\/us-farmers-win-right-to-repair-john-deere-tractors\/ar-AA166A1b\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Operating<\/a> With AFBF and \u201cour customers in the months and years ahead to ensure farmers continue to have the tools and resources to diagnose, maintain and repair their equipment,\u201d Dave Gilmore, vice president at Deere <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/markets\/commodities\/farm-bureau-deere-co-sign-mou-ensuring-farmers-right-repair-equipment-2023-01-08\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">According to the MOU, a manufacturer could not \u201cdivulge trade secrets, proprietary or confidential information\u201d Oder \u201callow owners or Independent Repair Facilities to override safety features or emissions controls or to adjust Agricultural Equipment power levels\u201d The signed agreement.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">In the MOU, it was also stated that the farm group would \u201cencourage state Farm Bureau organizations to recognize the commitments made in this MOU\u201d Do not panic \u201cfrom introducing, promoting, or supporting federal or state \u2018Right to Repair\u2019 legislation that imposes obligations beyond the commitments in this MOU.\u201d Deere and the group both can <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/deere-to-allow-farmers-to-repair-their-own-equipment-11673228580\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pull<\/a> If right-to repair legislation is passed at the state or federal levels, you can withdraw from the agreement.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Kevin O\u2019Reilly, director for the Right to Repair Campaign at the U.S. Public Interest Research Group, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/deere-to-allow-farmers-to-repair-their-own-equipment-11673228580\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><\/a> Legislators \u201cshould continue pushing Right-to-Repair legislation until every farmer in every state with every brand of equipment can fix every problem with every tractor.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The agreement could provide some relief for farmers who have struggled to find affordable items.
