HFC members have voiced concern that appointing McCarthy as House Speaker without key concessions would lead to a disregard of their concerns.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/article>\n<article class=\"article-item\" id=\"post-116\" data-post-id=\"\">\n<p><time class=\"time\" datetime=\"Fri Jan 06 2023 09:57:09 GMT-0500 (Eastern Standard Time)\"><\/time><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"title\">Chances are &#8216;low&#8217; that the speaker drama is solved today, senior GOP leadership source says<\/h2>\n<div class=\"content\">\n<p>\nA senior member of the House GOP leadership brass\u00a0told Fox News Friday the thought is that the House will conduct at least one vote today at noon for speaker and then see where they stand.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s going to be rather damning for House Speaker candidate Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., if the House votes shortly after noon ET and he still fails to alter any votes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPeople are starting to get antsy,\u201d said the Republican.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>When asked if the drama may be solved today, the Republican said those chances were \u201clow.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe made progress in the negotiations,\u201d said the source. \u201cBut I don\u2019t know that it\u2019s changed any votes yet.<\/p>\n<p>Fox News is also told this could bleed into the weekend. Members prefer to stay here to solve this first.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\nThe other concern is that Republicans are starting to lose members-elect who need to be elsewhere. Fox News is told there are \u201ca few\u201d who will likely be absent Friday. So it&#8217;s better that we go through this process right now so we can achieve the things we want to achieve for the American public, what our commitment was. So if this takes a little longer and it doesn&#8217;t meet your deadline, that&#8217;s okay, because it&#8217;s not it is not how you start.
