Doug Ducey in 2017.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.azapp.com\/blog\/governor-ducey-appoints-angela-paton-to-division-one-court-of-appeals-10-8-2021\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Paton<\/a> is another appointee of the Republican Ducey, having been nominated in 2021, while <a href=\"https:\/\/www.azapp.com\/blog\/court-of-appeals-news-release-8-26-2008\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Swann<\/a> was appointed by Democratic Gov. He <a href=\"https:\/\/azcapitoltimes.com\/news\/2020\/05\/01\/ducey-surpasses-state-record-of-judicial-appointments\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">mostly appointed<\/a> Republicans, but not always.<\/p>\n<p>Cruz, in fact, is a Democrat from Yuma County, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/ballotpedia.org\/Maria_Elena_Cruz\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ballotpedia<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Their party background does not necessarily indicate how they\u2019ll rule, but two <a href=\"https:\/\/www.courtlistener.com\/person\/6248\/peter-b-swann\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Democrats<\/a> to one Republican might not bode well in Lake\u2019s challenge of Democrat Gov. Katie Hobbs\u2019 win in the November election.<\/p>\n<p>Lake\u2019s legal team<a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/kari-lake-wants-take-case-way-ariz-supreme-court-just-made-official\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> filed a petition<\/a> Sunday seeking to bypass the Court of Appeals and take her case directly to the Arizona Supreme Court.<\/p>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-container\" class=\"one-half\">\n<p>Will Kari Lake win her election challenge?<\/p>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-results\">\n<p>\nYes: 76% (1120 Votes)\n<\/p>\n<p>\nNo: 24% (356 Votes)\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.azcourts.gov\/meetthejustices\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">All the justices<\/a> sitting on the state\u2019s highest court were <a href=\"https:\/\/ballotpedia.org\/Arizona_Supreme_Court\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">appointed by<\/a> GOP Gov.
