This signals the determination of progressives to reshape our judiciary despite a series of defeats.<\/p>\n<p>Demand Justice raised $4.5 million from Soros\u2019s Open Society Foundations for &#8220;supporting policy advocacy.&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.opensocietyfoundations.org\/grants\/past?filter_keyword=demand+justice&#038;grant_id=OR2021-82058\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">court reform<\/a>&#8220;2021 Fiscal Year Tax Filings <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/OSPC-2021.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">show<\/a>. This is almost. <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/politics\/soros-fuels-dark-money-judicial-group-that-fights-kavanaugh-trump-nominations\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">double<\/a> The group received $2.5 million from Soros in 2018, when it <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/politics\/former-clinton-aide-brian-fallon-new-job\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">formed<\/a> To oppose Justice Brett Kavanaugh\u2019s confirmation.<\/p>\n<p>Demand Justice could benefit from Soros&#8217;s higher donations as it fights for ground. Two major setbacks for the group in the past two years were the confirmation of two conservative justices as well as the cooling off by centrist Democrats on efforts to end filibuster in the Senate and pack the Court.<\/p>\n<p>Demand Justice is not willing to back off, a position that was evident by its calls to increase protests during Court&#8217;s last term. <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/courts\/life-wins-supreme-court-strikes-down-roe-v-wade\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">historic<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/courts\/clarence-thomas-delivers-the-second-amendments-greatest-victory-yet\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">victories <\/a>Information about abortion and Second Amendment rights<\/p>\n<p>After the 2022 leak <em>Dobbs <\/em>v.<em> Jackson Women&#8217;s Health Organization <\/em>Brian Fallon, Demand Justice executive director <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/brianefallon\/status\/1522269509008216064?s=20&#038;t=LjbRCVdPuDMCGRrXIuNHPA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">called for<\/a> To help protesters, the Court was removed from its protective perimeter. &#8220;more accountability&#8221; All justices.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;SCOTUS leaks are good,&#8221; He <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/brianefallon\/status\/1521377663134453760\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a> Follow us on Twitter. &#8220;Rip the veil off.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The Department of Homeland Security <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/courts\/homeland-security-prepares-for-violence-after-supreme-court-abortion-ruling\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">warned<\/a> There were increased threats to Supreme Court justices as well as violence due to the opinion leak. Within weeks, a male was <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/courts\/would-be-assassin-arrested-outside-kavanaughs-home\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">arrested<\/a> Kavanaugh confessed outside Kavanaugh\u2019s home to plans to assassinate Justice, citing the Court\u2019s anticipated overturning <em>Roe<\/em> v. <em>Wade<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Fallon was present when the June decision was made. <a href=\"https:\/\/demandjustice.org\/demand-justice-statement-on-supreme-court-overturning-roe-v-wade\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">urged<\/a> Democrats to expand Court seats, referred to conservative majority &#8220;illegitimate.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Demand Justice and the Open Society Foundations did not respond to our request for comment.
