Watching that game Monday night, what happened to Damar Hamlin struck me a little different,\u201d Sharpe started.<\/p>\n<p>He went on to explain that football players understood that injuries \u2014 even serious ones \u2014 were a part of playing the game, but that everyone had still reacted differently when Hamlin went down on Monday. \u201cI\u2019ve never seen anybody have to be revived and fight for their life on the field,\u201d He stated.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSkip tweeted something, and although I disagree with the tweet, and hopefully Skip will take it down,\u201d Sharpe then said, prompting Bayless to interrupt.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTimeout, I\u2019m not gonna take it down. \u2018Cause I stand by what I tweeted,\u201d Bayless was forced to return.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI mean, I can\u2019t even get through a monologue without you interrupting. I was just gonna say, Skip, I didn\u2019t want to yesterday to get into a situation where Damar Hamlin was the issue,\u201d Sharpe answered. \u201cWe should have been talking about him and not getting into your tweet. That\u2019s what I was going to do, but you can\u2019t even let me finish my opening monologue without you interrupting.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bayless was widely criticized after a few tweets that he sent out before officials announced that suspension would be in effect. Some argued that he was just focusing on the game and not the player being rushed into the hospital.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNot exactly sure what happened to Damar Hamlin. Players on both teams are shaken. Ambulance out on the field. CPR administered. Can\u2019t remember play being stopped for this length of time. Just said a prayer for him and his family,\u201d Bayless <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RealSkipBayless\/status\/1610096381074489344\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">began<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RealSkipBayless\/status\/1610099750531137537\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">adding<\/a>, \u201cI\u2019ve seen so many horrific injuries suffered on football fields yet never have I seen a reaction like this. In every other situation I witnessed or covered, the game always went on fairly quickly. The attitude was, \u2018Hey, that\u2019s football.\u2019 For these players, this was DIFFERENT.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Next came the tweet that raised eyebrows.
