He also conspires to commit money laundering.<\/p>\n<p>Bankman-Fried was found in the Bahamas where he ran FTX, Alameda Research and FTX alongside his amateur colleagues. News of suspected fraud at his companies became a major news story. He was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/sam-bankman-fried-agrees-to-be-extradited-to-the-united-states\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">extradited<\/a> to the United States last month after a brief stint in Fox Hill Prison, the small island nation\u2019s only government detention center, which a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.state.gov\/reports\/2021-country-reports-on-human-rights-practices\/bahamas\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">report<\/a> The State Department described the State Department as harsh because \u201covercrowding, poor nutrition, inadequate sanitation, and inadequate medical care.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The collapse of the cryptocurrency empire led by Bankman-Fried created a media firestorm as the entrepreneur\u2019s extensive political contributions came into the public eye. According to Bloomberg, he was the second-largest contributor to the campaign that placed President Joe Biden in office more than two years ago. Among the beneficiaries of Bankman-Fried\u2019s donations were incoming House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY), Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ), Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV), Sen. Debbie Stabenow (D-MI, Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL), and Sen.
