Why is it so prevalent? And what can you do to alleviate it?\u00a0 Let\u2019s look at the current research.<\/p>\n<h2>Experts believe that most factors leading to chronic low-back pain are preventable and lifestyle-related.<\/h2>\n<p>Back pain\u00a0symptoms include dull, throbbing, achy, and\/or stiff pain anywhere in the spine, but usually in the lower back.\u00a0 If the underlying cause of your back pain \u2014 such as disc herniation, disc bulge, or spinal stenosis \u2014 involves compression of a nerve as it leaves the spinal column, then additional symptoms in the leg or arm can develop, too, including weakness, numbness, pain, and tingling.<\/p>\n<p>No matter your back diagnosis, here are the top risk factors for developing it.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Men between the ages 50 and 60 are especially at risk from an increasing age<\/li>\n<li>Genetics<\/li>\n<li>Fitness level (you guessed it \u2014 less physically fit people and \u201cweekend warriors\u201d Are more likely to experience back Journal\u00a0<\/em>conclude that spinal surgery \u2014 including discectomies, decompression, and fusions \u2014 sometimes \u201cfails to provide relief or provides only temporary relief of the patient\u2019s pain.\u201d\u00a0 In fact, this is so common that it\u2019s earned its own clinically recognized name: failed back surgery syndrome (FBSS).<\/p>\n<p>According to some data, nearly 1 in 3 spinal surgery patients have the same amount of pain \u2014 or even worse pain \u2014 12 months after lumbar surgery.\u00a0 About 50 percent of spinal surgery patients experience pain after lumbar surgery. \u201csuccess rate,\u201d Revision surgeries are even more problematic.\u00a0 A mere 30%, 15% and 5% respectively of patients who have undergone second, third or fourth surgeries have recommendations based on research for treating and preventing this common condition.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Weight loss<\/li>\n<li>Exercise (including aerobic, resistance and aquatic activities).<\/li>\n<li>Physical therapy<\/li>\n<li>Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and pain education<\/li>\n<li>Alternative therapies, and especially acupuncture \u2014 which is proven to be at least \u201cmoderately\u201d Effective for chronic low back pain<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>When you have back pain that is chronic, the first thing you should do is to get help.\u00a0\u00a0<em>Keep
