Scott Wiener, a Democrat, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kcra.com\/article\/california-may-act-us-refuge-for-transgender-youth\/41023888#\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">introduced a bill<\/a>\u00a0offering\u00a0legal protection to parents of transgender children from other states where \u201cgender-affirming care\u201d for children has been restricted\u2014essentially to make California a\u00a0sanctuary state for children seeking dangerous hormone treatments and body mutilation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTrans kids and their parents are being criminalized and used as political punching bags by right-wing zealots,\u201d Weiner stated this in a statement. \u201cNo one should ever have to worry about being separated from their child simply for allowing that child to be who they are.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Gov. Gavin Newsom signed it into law in Septembre, and it went into effect Sunday, January 1.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Related:<\/strong>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/pjmedia.com\/news-and-politics\/matt-margolis\/2022\/12\/27\/sweden-ditches-barbaric-gender-affirming-care-for-kids-n1656568\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sweden Ditches Barbaric \u2018Gender-Affirming\u2019 Care for Kids<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/leginfo.legislature.ca.gov\/faces\/billNavClient.xhtml?bill_id=202120220SB107\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The law<\/a>The Assembly approved the Bill 48-16, without any debate. \u201cwould prohibit a provider of health care, a health care service plan, or a contractor from releasing medical information related to a person or entity allowing a child to receive gender-affirming health care or gender-affirming mental health care in response to a criminal or civil action, including a foreign subpoena, based on another state\u2019s law that authorizes a person to bring a civil or criminal action against a person or entity that allows a child to receive gender-affirming health care or gender-affirming mental health care.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The law will also \u201cprohibit the enforcement of an order based on another state\u2019s law authorizing a child to be removed from their parent or guardian based on that parent or guardian allowing their child to receive gender-affirming health care or gender-affirming mental health care.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-reader-unique-id=\"38\">A recent comprehensive study <a href=\"https:\/\/pjmedia.com\/news-and-politics\/matt-margolis\/2022\/12\/28\/study-gender-affirming-care-for-children-has-no-medical-benefits-n1656851\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">found that there is no medical benefit for young people to receive so-called \u201cgender-affirming care.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n<p data-reader-unique-id=\"38\">The Biden administration however <a href=\"https:\/\/pjmedia.com\/news-and-politics\/matt-margolis\/2022\/05\/01\/the-brewing-myth-of-medical-consensus-on-transitioning-children-n1594263\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">insists there is medical consensus in favor of \u201cgender-affirming care\u201d for children<\/a>  <a href=\"https:\/\/pjmedia.com\/news-and-politics\/matt-margolis\/2022\/12\/05\/the-biden-administration-wants-taxpayers-to-pay-for-transgender-child-mutilation-n1650915\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">wants taxpayers to pay for children to receive \u201cgender-affirming care,\u201d<\/a>\u00a0all while\u00a0the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/europe-dialing-back-shocking-policies-on-transgender-kids-and-medical-intervention\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">United Kingdom, Sweden, Finland, and France have all dialed back on pushing transgender \u201ctreatments\u201d for children.<\/a>\u00a0Why?
