A number of media icons of all kinds are now in the public domain.<\/p>\n<p>This is the most controversial and notable new work that has been added to the <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/public-domain-2023-5c30746553953b5accffcbaa9e860de0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">public domain<\/a> This is the collection of short stories \u201cThe Case-Book of Sherlock Holmes,\u201d The final Sherlock Holmes mystery set by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, the legendary Scottish author\/physician.<\/p>\n<p>The collection was at the heart of a <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/4c2c6715242e4965ba245d6af8d6a075\">heated legal dispute<\/a> between the author Leslie Klinger and the Conan Doyle estate, over Klinger\u2019s story collection, \u201cIn the Company of Sherlock Holmes,\u201d Information about the story elements and associates featured in the original stories. The estate claimed that even though nearly all of Conan Doyle\u2019s original stories were already in the public domain, Klinger could not publish his own story collection because the \u201cCase-Book\u201d Copyright was not yet removed. However, a federal judge ruled against the estate in 2014.<\/p>\n<p>An additional dispute was brought by the estate against Netflix&#8217;s creators \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/business\/business-news\/netflix-settles-enola-holmes-lawsuit-with-conan-doyle-estate-4108221\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Enola Holmes<\/a>\u201d In December 2020, the matter was settled. The Doyle Estate relied on the \u201cCase-Book\u201d The stories in that case also claimed that a new depiction of the detective who was famous for his ability to deduce, and expresses more emotions, violated their copyright. Milne\u2019s iconic children\u2019s book series, \u201cWinnie the Pooh.\u201d Movie makers released a horror film based on the famous characters months after the copyright had expired. \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/winnie-the-pooh-blood-and-honey-horror-movie-trailer-drops-after-copyright-lapses\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey<\/a>\u201d It will be available in theatres from February 15.<\/p>\n<p>One of the most famous cartoon characters will be available to the public next year.
