She was a trailblazer not only for female journalists, but for all women.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>Walters is survived today by Jacqueline Dena Guber her daughter.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"a8d-pre\">Walters got her start in television journalism in 1961 writing for NBC\u2019s <i>Today<\/i> show. Walters was the first female news anchor on ABC in 1976. Walters co-founded the company in 1997. <i>The View<\/i> She was co-host from May 2014 to this point.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Walters was a television journalist who won 12 Emmys throughout her five-decade-long career.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Walters has interviewed many notable figures over the years including Monica Lewinsky (Oprah), Fidel Castro and former President Donald Trump.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_8470433\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Trump-Barbara-Walters-1989-Time-Life-Pictures-Getty-Images.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-8470433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Trump-Barbara-Walters-1989-Time-Life-Pictures-Getty-Images.jpg\" alt=\"Trump, Barbara Walters 1989\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Trump, Barbara Walters 1989<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>One of Walters\u2019 last television appearances came in 2014, when she made her final appearance as co-host of <i>The View<\/i>.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cI do not want to appear on another program or climb another mountain,\u201d Walters <a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/GMA\/Culture\/barbara-walters-trailblazing-tv-icon-dies-93\/story?id=41435083&#038;cid=social_twitter_abcn\">said<\/a> It was at that time. \u201cI want instead to sit on a sunny field and admire the very gifted women \u2014 and OK, some men too \u2014 who will be taking my place.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Walt Disney Company CEO Bob Iger mourned Walters\u2019 death in a <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RobertIger\/status\/1609018986360102912?s=20\">statement<\/a>.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201cBarbara was a true legend, a pioneer not just for women in journalism but for journalism itself,\u201d Iger said. \u201cShe was a one-of-a-kind reporter who landed many of the most important interviews of our time, from heads of state and leaders of regimes to the biggest celebrities and sports icons.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Today I have bad news.
