The latter was sharing his Substack. <a href=\"https:\/\/leightonwoodhouse.substack.com\/p\/in-response-to-the-twitter-files\">post<\/a> How corporate media tried to shield the FBI\/state rather than expose them.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Hunter Biden laptop story shows the extent to which the corporate media has become the propaganda arm of the state,\u201d Woodhouse wrote in his Substack, pointing to the recent release of the seventh installment of Twitter\u2019s internal documents.<\/p>\n<p>Independent author Michael Shellenberger <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/new-twitter-files-show-fbi-tried-to-discredit-information-about-hunter-biden-laptop_4932710.html\">published<\/a> The seventh installment, Dec. 19, revealed how there was an \u201corganized effort\u201d Federal law enforcement agents were sent to discredit the 2020 Hunter Biden laptop reports by targeting news media companies and social media.<\/p>\n<p>Other installments of Twitter\u2019s internal communications have shown how the media giant placed certain individuals on \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/elon-musk-releases-twitter-files-ii-exposing-secret-blacklists_4913258.html\">secret blacklists<\/a>,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/twitter-deviated-from-longstanding-policy-to-justify-trump-ban-part-4-of-twitter-files-reveals_4916557.html\">debates<\/a> over how to handle former President Donald Trump\u2019s account before it was suspended in January 2021, and how the FBI allegedly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/newly-released-emails-show-fbi-flagging-accounts-for-twitter-to-punish_4929385.html\">flagged accounts<\/a> Tweets and other information for Twitter to take actions against<\/p>\n<p>The FBI dismissed the \u201cTwitter Files,\u201d Alluding that \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/fbi-responds-to-musks-twitter-files-says-conspiracy-theorists-trying-to-discredit-bureau_4938649.html\">conspiracy theorists<\/a>\u201d They want to discredit it.<\/p>\n<p>A Twitter user <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/UsmanZiyadKp\/status\/1608030392942006272\">responded<\/a> to Musk\u2019s question by writing, \u201cSimple\u2026 it\u2019s Corporate Journalism\u2026 Not Journalism.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Musk is the answer <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/elonmusk\/status\/1608030575771766784\">replied<\/a>: \u201cExactly. Why would anyone trust corpo journalism?\u201d<\/p>\n<h2><b>Substack<\/b><\/h2>\n<p>Musk is also mentioned in the same thread. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/elonmusk\/status\/1607936197602562050\">said<\/a> That he was \u201copen to the idea\u201d Substack platform purchase, while responding to Wall Street Silver&#8217;s tweet.<\/p>\n<p>The latter <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/WallStreetSilv\/status\/1607872235448197122\">wrote<\/a>, \u201cTwitter plus Substack creates instantly massive competition for obsolete legacy corporate media.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Substack allows independent writers and podcasters to publish directly to their audiences and get paid through subscriptions, the platform\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/substack.com\/\">website<\/a> says.<\/p>\n<p>Musk expressed an interest in Substack on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>Dave Rubin, a conservative commentator, began a blog on December 8. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RubinReport\/status\/1601046501194489856\">thread<\/a> by alleging that Google and YouTube\u2019s \u201cmanipulation for political purposes is FAR worse than Twitter\u2019s.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>One Twitter user continued the thread, and suggested Musk buy Substack.<\/p>\n<p>The Twitter user <a href=\"https:\/\/mobile.twitter.com\/akashgoswami_\/status\/1604805160110157825\/photo\/1\">wrote<\/a>: \u201cYou would have the information layer with Twitter and the narrative layer. Corporate media would then have [to] specialize on reporting government leaks, from \u2018people familiar with the matter.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m open to the idea,\u201d Musk <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/elonmusk\/status\/1601123508821467136\">wrote<\/a> As a response to the recommendation.<\/p>\n<h2><b>Reputation<\/b><\/h2>\n<p>Musk replied to a Dec. 28th tweet <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SquawkCNBC\/status\/1607704234912366592\">Twitter clip<\/a> posted by CNBC\u2019s \u201cSquawk Box,\u201d during which Axios reporter Hope King said the new Twitter chief\u2019s reputation was \u201cin danger.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll of the macro conditions are against his favor. Market-share for $TSLA is down year-over-year. His reputation with Twitter is impacting his reputation when it comes to all of his companies,\u201d She spoke.<\/p>\n<p>Musk responded. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/elonmusk\/status\/1608029483117821952\">wrote<\/a>: \u201cThe legacy media should worry about its reputation. We have only just begun.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Musk has made it clear that he will <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/elonmusk\/status\/1593673339826212864\">promote<\/a> free speech after acquiring Twitter and his decision to release the company\u2019s internal documents is tied to his promise.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Twitter Files on free speech suppression soon to be published on Twitter itself. The public deserves to know what really happened,\u201d Musk <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/elonmusk\/status\/1597336812732575744\">wrote<\/a> On Twitter, Dec. 28, just days prior to the first batch \u201cTwitter Files\u201d Matt Taibbi, an independent journalist, released it.<\/p>\n<p>The first installment <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/elon-musk-unveils-twitters-censorship-of-hunter-biden-laptop-story-in-2020_4901498.html\">exposed<\/a> how the social media giant\u2019s efforts to suppress the New York Post\u2019s Hunter Biden laptop story published just weeks before the 2020 presidential election.<\/p>\n<p>Emails from the laptop\u2019s hard drive and Treasury records <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/hunter-bidens-china-business-deals-should-raise-alarm-bells-author-says_4410029.html\">revealed<\/a> Joe Biden was then Vice President. James Biden and Hunter Biden were involved with foreign business ventures in countries such Russia, China, and Ukraine. The revelations were discredited by many media outlets at the time. \u201cRussian disinformation\u201d The news was also blocked by social media platforms.<\/p>\n<p>Hunter Biden recently <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/hunter-biden-hires-high-profile-defense-lawyer-ahead-of-anticipated-house-gop-probes_4942015.html\">hired<\/a> Abbe Lowell, a high-profile defense attorney, is now part of his legal team. House Republicans are planning to investigate his overseas business interests.<\/p>\n<h2><b>Congressional Probe<\/b><\/h2>\n<p>Sen. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/t-roger-wicker\">Roger Wicker<\/a> (R-Miss.(R-Miss.), a ranking member of Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation, stated that Congress must probe \u201cBig Tech\u201d Companies, following the revelations of the \u201cTwitter Files.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese explosive revelations show the enormous power that a handful of liberal tech executives have over our public discourse,\u201d Wicker wrote his weekly report <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wicker.senate.gov\/2022\/12\/wicker-calls-for-big-tech-investigations\">published<\/a> 26 December<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe should be grateful that new leadership is lifting the hood on Twitter, but Congress needs to follow up with wider investigations into Big Tech companies, including Facebook and Google,\u201d He stated.<\/p>\n<p>The Mississippi senator dismissed suggestions by some lawmakers that tech companies shouldn\u2019t be investigated because they are \u201cfree enterprises operating in a free market.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat this fails to recognize is that these massive companies wield unprecedented power over our nation,\u201d He explained.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe live in a big country where people hold a wide range of views and convictions. This diversity makes it all the more vital that we protect free speech. Big Tech has shown that it cannot be trusted to do so.
