First, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.parliament.scot\/bills-and-laws\/bills\/gender-recognition-reform-scotland-bill\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">they passed<\/a> Gender Recognition Reform Act was approved just days before Christmas. It makes it easier to legalize gender recognition. \u201cchange their gender\u201d Official purposes. In a report at the end of the year, Police Scotland has referred to pedophiles. \u201cminor-attracted persons.\u201d (MAPs). The news was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scottishdailyexpress.co.uk\/news\/scottish-news\/anger-eu-project-sees-police-28841534\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">immediately met with protests<\/a> From both child welfare and gay rights groups. But Chief Constable Iain Livingstone is defending the language, saying that he was only following a template set by the European Union and that the people who are offended aren\u2019t taking the language in context.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Paedophiles being labeled as controversial is a controversial decision \u201cMinor-Attracted People\u201d In a top-level document has been defended\u00a0<a id=\"reader.external-link.num-0\" href=\"https:\/\/www.scottishdailyexpress.co.uk\/all-about\/police-scotland\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Police Scotland<\/a>This was despite the fact that the EU was at fault.<\/p>\n<p>Chief Constable Iain Livingstone\u2019s annual year end report refers to child abusers as Minor-Attracted People (MAPs). This is despite campaigners&#8217; wider concerns about what they perceive to be attempts at rebranding.\u00a0<a id=\"reader.external-link.num-1\" href=\"https:\/\/www.scottishdailyexpress.co.uk\/news\/scottish-news\/scots-fugitive-paedophile-who-fled-28489023\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">paedophilia<\/a>\u00a0It is a normal sexual preference.<\/p>\n<p>A spokesperson for the force stressed that MAPs are not a term they regularly use to describe child sex abusers.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Anyone can use this new technology. \u201cMAPs\u201d Language used in official capacities should be required to answer serious questions. You can read the explanation from Police Scotland and feel a little sympathy for their position. The portion of the report where the term shows up makes a specific reference to the\u00a0European Union\u2019s Horizon Europe Project \u2013 Prevention of Child Sexual Exploitation. That\u2019s the language that the EU used, so Police Scotland simply copied it from there. It also does not endorse any type of pedophilia. It\u2019s actually intended to protect children from pedophiles.<\/p>\n<p>The police also insisted that the MAPs language was not used elsewhere within the department. They refer to pedophiles still as pedophiles, even though they spell it differently \u201cpaedophiles\u201dThey do not support the attempts of pedo activists lower the age for consent. The linked report accurately points out that there are child abusers on the European continent. \u201ctrying to escape the stigma\u201d You are attached to pedophilia. \u201ca niche group alongside the LGBT community.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>One Scottish MP summarized the situation beautifully.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cI very much welcome the common sense approach from Police Scotland, though even in commissioning documents these euphemisms should be avoided as they mask the reality and hide the horror. The term in whatever context is baloney.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Another MP joined the fray, explaining the dangers of \u201cnormalizing and therefore perhaps decriminalizing a serious offense\u201d. And that\u2019s exactly what these sick individuals are attempting to do. Lesbians and gay men should be offended that pedophiles are being included with them. Many gay rights activists have started speaking out about this.
