The <a href=\"https:\/\/waysandmeans.house.gov\/sites\/democrats.waysandmeans.house.gov\/files\/wysiwyg_uploaded\/Attachment_E.zip\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">documents<\/a>These numbers were redacted to protect sensitive information like Social Security numbers. They cover the years 2015-2020 and include both individual returns and business returns.<\/p>\n<p>A minority <a href=\"https:\/\/gop-waysandmeans.house.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/2022.12.20-Executive-Session-Dissenting-Views.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">report<\/a> Republican lawmakers released Friday&#8217;s first public statement stating that their colleagues&#8217; actions established that lawmakers could release tax returns from any private citizen.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCommittee Republicans are concerned that this politically motivated action unleashes a dangerous new political weapon reaching far beyond the former President and overturns decades of privacy protections for average Americans,\u201d The report stated. \u201cGoing forward, the new precedent is that the Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee and the Senate Finance Committee have nearly unlimited power to target and make public the tax returns of private citizens, political enemies, business or labor leaders, or even Supreme Court justices.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Trump, who last month announced a third bid to the White House, also claimed that the release his tax records was politically motivated, and remarked in a Friday statement, &#8220;The move will \u201cled to horrible things for so many people.\u201d Although publicizing tax returns is not required for presidential candidates, it is a common practice.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDespite warnings about the long-term negative consequences, Democrats moved forward anyway,\u201d The minority report was added. \u201cThis development will simply make our politics more divisive and partisan. Even Democrats will come to regret this. And they may regret it sooner than they think.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to the report Democrats created strict conditions under which Republican staffers were allowed to view the tax returns. This meant that they could only allow them access at an offsite location, during business hours. On the day that Republicans were permitted to view their tax returns, Democratic officials failed to notify IRS agents properly. This caused significant delays. Before lawmakers voted, Republican staffers were allowed to view the tax returns which covered more than 6,000 pages. \u201can unprecedented disclosure of confidential tax information by Congress.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Democrats, among other abuses of their position, withheld information regarding the scheduling of a final business meeting about tax returns despite many requests for details. They eventually scheduled the meeting five day before Christmas holiday.<\/p>\n<p>Richard Neal, Chairman of the Ways and Means Committee (D-MA), is who <a href=\"https:\/\/waysandmeans.house.gov\/media-center\/press-releases\/neal-floor-statement-hr-9640-presidential-tax-filing-and-audit\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">introduced<\/a> The legislation, which would have required annual audits of the current commander-in chief, insists that the head is. \u201cno ordinary taxpayer\u201d Consequently, they should be held to different standards. \u201cThey hold power and influence unlike any other American.
