We expect all countries in the Indo-Pacific region to use international airspace safely and in accordance with international law.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>U.S. Indo-Pacific Command spokesperson <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2022\/12\/29\/world\/asia\/us-china-military-jet-intercept.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">declared<\/a>, \u201cWe have seen an alarming increase in the number of unsafe aerial intercepts and confrontations at sea by PLA aircraft and vessels. So this latest incident reflects a concerning trend of unsafe and dangerous intercept practices by the PLA that are of grave concern to the United States.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Four days after the near-miss between the Chinese fighter jet and the American Air Force plane, 71 Chinese warplanes were detected flying around Taiwan, performing military exercises, according to Taiwan\u2019s Defense Ministry.<\/p>\n<p>According to the PLA China was carrying out a \u201cstrike drill\u201d As a response to \u201cprovocations\u201d And \u201ccollusion\u201d The U.S. and Taiwan<\/p>\n<p>\u201c71 PLA aircraft and 7 PLAN vessels around Taiwan were detected in our surrounding region by 6 a.m.(UTC+8) today,\u201d Taiwan Defense Ministry tweets \u201cR.O.C.
