Jarrett Stidham would instead start. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/sport\/2022\/dec\/29\/derek-carr-benched-las-vegas-raiders\">Guardian<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t think anybody feels like we\u2019ve done enough offensively certainly in a couple of these games,\u201d McDaniels shared. \u201cWe couldn\u2019t put enough points on the board, so I don\u2019t think anybody\u2019s really happy with what we\u2019ve done.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re all accountable to where we\u2019re at, and I think this (decision) is more about an opportunity to see a guy that we haven\u2019t seen play in a situation like this against a couple of good teams, really good teams,\u201d He concluded. \u201cDerek\u2019s played a lot of football. There\u2019s a lot of evaluating that\u2019s going to take place here in terms of once the season\u2019s over in terms of how we made the most progress, what makes the most sense for everybody, how to move forward.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe knew that was going to be the case,\u201d The coach continued. \u201cObviously, we were hoping to be in a different scenario than we are currently, but there\u2019s no decision made. There\u2019s no finality to today. This is the decision we thought after talking about it and contemplating. It would be an opportunity for us to see what we have in [Stidham].\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Carr has been the Raiders\u2019 starting QB since 2014 and has only missed three games in nine seasons due to injury, the outlet noted.<\/p>\n<p>A source told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/story\/_\/id\/35335730\/raiders-bench-qb-derek-carr-start-jarrett-stidham-vs-49ers\">ESPN<\/a> The QB agreed that he would step down from the team for remainder of the season.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe two sides talked about it and thought it was best,\u201d Source shared.<\/p>\n<p>The Raiders\u2019 acquired Stidham from the New England Patriots in an offseason trade. McDaniels previously was the Patriots\u2019 offensive coordinator.
