After the Biden administration announced that it would be reimposing testing requirements for Chinese travelers who are traveling to the U.S., the Biden administration faced criticism.<\/p>\n<p>This announcement by the administration comes at a time when coronavirus counts in China are high. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2022\/12\/25\/world\/asia\/covid-spreading-china.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">skyrocketed<\/a> Recent weeks have seen millions of cases reported daily by local health authorities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCDC is announcing today that it will implement a requirement for a negative COVID-19 test or documentation of recovery for air passengers boarding flights to the United States originating from the People\u2019s Republic of China (PRC) and the Special Administrative Regions of Hong Kong and Macau,\u201d The CDC stated in a statement. \u201cCDC is announcing this step to slow the spread of COVID-19 in the United States during the surge in COVID-19 cases in the PRC given the lack of adequate and transparent epidemiological and viral genomic sequence data being reported from the PRC.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to the statement, this policy will become effective next week.
