He was then barred from participating in the U.S. Open because of a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention rule regarding the vaccine.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s great to be back in Australia,\u201d Thursday&#8217;s statement by the 35-year-old was made. <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/12\/29\/djokovic-says-no-hard-feelings-over-australian-deportation\/?utm_campaign=iphone_nyp&#038;utm_source=message_app\">according<\/a> The New York Post. \u201cIt\u2019s a country where I\u2019ve had tremendous success in my career, particularly in Melbourne. It\u2019s by far my most successful Grand Slam. I\u2019m hoping that everything is going to be positive. Obviously (fan reaction) is not something that I can predict.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Djokovic returns to the country ahead the Australian Open scheduled for January 16.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ll do my best to play good tennis and bring good emotions and good feelings to the crowd,\u201d He said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cObviously what happened 12 months ago was not easy for me,\u201d The athlete continued. \u201cfor my family, team, anybody who is close to me. It\u2019s obviously disappointing to leave the country like that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou can\u2019t forget those events,\u201d He said. \u201cIt\u2019s one of these things that stays with you for I guess the rest of your life. It\u2019s something that I\u2019ve never experienced before and hopefully never again. But it is a valuable life experience for me and something that as I said will stay there, but I have to move on.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The three-time U.S. Open champion was back in February\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/world-60354068\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">told<\/a> According to the BBC, he was willing and able to sacrifice championships in return for these beliefs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat is the price that I\u2019m willing to pay,\u201d\u00a0Djokovic expressed concern about tournaments that might be missed due to the vaccination requirement. \u201cBecause the principles of decision making on my body are more important than any title or anything else.
