The tax materials for Trump and his businesses, which are expected to cover the years 2015 to 2020, will be placed into the Congressional Record as part of a pro forma session,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/donald-trump\/trump-tax-returns-released-public-friday-committee-says-rcna63392\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">according to NBC News<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The panel\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/breaking-house-democrats-vote-to-release-years-of-trumps-tax-returns\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">voted along party lines<\/a>\u00a0last week to release Trump\u2019s tax returns following a years-long legal battle capped by the Supreme Court rejecting the former president\u2019s plea to block the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) from giving the tax records to the committee. Chairman Richard Neal (D\u2013MA) stated that the release would occur within a few days to allow staff to make redactions on sensitive information.<\/p>\n<p>Trump was a long-standing businessman before entering politics. Trump rejected the modern standard of making tax information available while a candidate for President.<\/p>\n<p>Trump&#8217;s third bid for the White House was unsuccessful. Trump&#8217;s campaign condemned Democrats over Trump&#8217;s vote to release his tax returns. \u201cThis unprecedented leak by lame-duck Democrats is proof they are playing a political game they are losing,\u201d said Trump\u2019s campaign,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/2022\/12\/20\/trump-tax-returns-house-democrats\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">according to The Washington Post<\/a>. \u201cIf this injustice can happen to President Trump, it can happen to all Americans without cause.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While Democrats have argued that they needed access to Trump\u2019s tax returns for the sake of oversight,\u00a0Rep. Kevin Brady (R-TX), the top Republican on the Ways and Means Committee, echoed concerns raised by Trump\u2019s team,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/gop-kevin-brady-warning-about-supreme-court-tax-returns-backfires-social-media-response-1768593\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">saying the disclosure<\/a>\u00a0Will \u201cset a terrible precedent that unleashes a dangerous new political weapon that reaches far beyond the former president and overturns decades of privacy protections for average Americans that have existed since the Watergate reforms.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The House Ways and Means Committee has already compiled its findings.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/waysandmeans.house.gov\/sites\/democrats.waysandmeans.house.gov\/files\/documents\/2022.12.20%20Final%20Report%20House%20Ways%20and%20Means.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">issuing a report<\/a>\u00a0last week that said the IRS failed to adhere to its own policy and audit Trump during his first two years in office and only started one on Trump\u2019s 2015 income tax return the same day in 2019 the panel requested access. \u201cThe former President\u2019s individual income tax returns filed in 2018, 2019, and 2020 were not selected for examination until after he left office and only the 2016 tax return was subject to a mandatory examination,\u201d The document stated.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/waysandmeans.house.gov\/sites\/democrats.waysandmeans.house.gov\/files\/documents\/jctreport.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">A supplemental report<\/a>\u00a0The Joint Committee on Taxation also released data last week that shows how much Trump has paid and not paid in taxes each tax year.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2022\/12\/21\/trump-income-tax-returns-detailed-in-new-report-.html\">per CNBC<\/a>. The review revealed that Trump didn&#8217;t pay federal income tax during his final year of presidency.<\/p>\n<p>Ron Wyden, D-OR, Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, was inspired by these findings to resign.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.finance.senate.gov\/chairmans-news\/wyden-statement-on-ways-and-means-investigation-of-presidential-audit-program-\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">accuse the IRS<\/a>\u00a0Being \u201casleep at the wheel\u201d And assert \u201cthe presidential audit program is broken.\u201d Thursday&#8217;s vote by the House to pass a bill was unanimous.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/house\/3785369-house-passes-bill-requiring-presidential-tax-audits-after-revelation-trump-skirted-scrutiny\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">requiring presidential tax audits<\/a>Wyden also promised that he would do his best to pass the reforms through the Senate.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Several years\u2019 worth of former President\u00a0Donald Trump\u2018s tax returns are on track to be released to the public by the end of this week.
