The bill included a provision that, once signed by President Trump, will soon prohibit TikTok access to government devices.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith the passage of the Omnibus that banned TikTok on executive branch devices, the CAO worked with the Committee on House Administration to implement a similar policy for the House,\u201d A spokesperson for the Chief Administrator Officer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/technology\/us-house-administration-arm-bans-tiktok-official-devices-2022-12-27\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">told<\/a> Reuters Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cNo TikTok on Government Devices Act\u201d was introduced by Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) in the Senate in an effort to prohibit the app\u2019s use on government devices.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTikTok is a Trojan Horse for the Chinese Communist Party. It\u2019s a major security risk to the United States, and until it is forced to sever ties with China completely, it has no place on government devices,\u201d Hawley stated in a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hawley.senate.gov\/hawley-bill-ban-tiktok-government-devices-passes-senate-unanimously\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">statement<\/a> This was earlier in the month. \u201cStates across the U.S. are banning TikTok on government devices. It\u2019s time for Joe Biden and the Democrats to help do the same.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He introduced the measure previously as a separate bill. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/senate-unanimously-votes-to-ban-tiktok-on-government-devices\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">unanimously approved<\/a> By the Senate<\/p>\n<p>Nebraska Republican Gov. Pete Ricketts, the first leader of a state, was elected in Nebraska. <a href=\"https:\/\/governor.nebraska.gov\/press\/gov-ricketts-announces-tiktok-app-ban-state-devices\">ban<\/a> The app will be available on state devices starting in August 2020. Kristi Noem (South Dakota Republican Governor) <a href=\"https:\/\/news.sd.gov\/newsitem.aspx?id=31872\">blocked<\/a> App in November. At most 14 states ban TikTok state-issued devices.<\/p>\n<p>TikTok, which has over 100 million US users, is one the most popular apps in the Apple App Store as well as Google Play. TikTok\u2019s ByteDance company, however, is based in China where the communist government reportedly has the ability to access user data.<\/p>\n<p>FBI Director Christopher Wray noted TikTok\u2019s security concerns during a speech at the University of Michigan\u2019s Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy earlier this month.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll of these things are in the hands of a government that doesn\u2019t share our values, and that has a mission that\u2019s very much at odds with what\u2019s in the best interests of the United States. That should concern us,\u201d Wray\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/technology-china-united-states-national-security-government-and-politics-ac5c29cafaa1fc6bee990ed7e1fe5afc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>A bipartisan group of lawmakers is leading the effort to ban TikTok from all areas of the country.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The legislation was introduced by Senator Marco Rubio (R.FL) in the Senate this month. Raja Krishnamoorthi, D-IL, and Mike Gallagher (R-WI).\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gallagher.house.gov\/media\/press-releases\/gallagher-rubio-introduce-bipartisan-legislation-ban-tiktok\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">introduced<\/a> Complementary legislation in the House<\/p>\n<p>In 2020, former President Donald Trump signed an executive ban on TikTok.
