Eckersley was accused of abandoning her newborn son after giving birth in New Hampshire. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/topic\/homelessness\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">homeless camp<\/a> Below freezing temperatures<\/p>\n<p>Alexandra Eckersley was 26, who had a prior conviction for drug abuse. She was also charged with falsifying physical evidence and second-degree assault\/extreme Indifference. <a href=\"https:\/\/patch.com\/new-hampshire\/concord-nh\/more-felonies-against-mom-accused-leaving-newborn-homeless-tent\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">according to Patch.com<\/a>. Eckersley called 911 on Monday night just after midnight, claiming that she had given her birth in the woods near Manchester. According to police, Eckersley was found intoxicated by the first responders.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBased on [the officer\u2019s] interaction with Eckersely, he believed [she] was under the influence of drugs,\u201d An affidavit is required. \u201cHe stated that at times, Eckersley was unsteady on her feet and that she would thrash around, side to side.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Eckersley allegedly told police she didn\u2019t know where the baby she\u2019d just had was, prompting a search of the woods by police, firefighters, and EMTs. Later, a detective said that a K-9 unit was called in because police were expecting to find a body dead due to the sub-zero temperatures. But an hour later, Eckersley told an EMT the location of the tent she\u2019d been living in, and said the baby would be there, according to police.<\/p>\n<p>Eckersley led authorities towards the tent, where they found the baby on blood-soaked blankets inside.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile on the scene at the campsite, Alexandra allegedly played music from her phone and sang along,\u201d\u00a0The police affidavit stated that.<\/p>\n<p>The baby, who weighed in at 4.4 pounds, is thought to have been three months prematurely born. He was then taken to a nearby hospital.<\/p>\n<p>Eckersley later stated to police that she gave birth at 11:30 p.m. Sunday, but that her boyfriend couldn&#8217;t detect the baby&#8217;s pulse. Police say she said that she attempted to call 911 in vain, but then fled the scene because she was afraid police would seize the tent.<\/p>\n<p>Eckersley said that she was leaving the baby after a detective asked her. \u201cWhat do they tell you when a plane goes down? Save yourself first,\u201d According to the affidavit.<\/p>\n<p>Eckersely\u2019s father was one of the greatest relief pitchers in Major League Baseball history and served as a Boston Red Sox radio broadcaster. He pitched from 1975-1998 and racked up 197 victories and 390 saves.
