That\u2019s how much longer you\u2019ve got to be alive! And it isn\u2019t long, my pretty! It isn\u2019t long! I can\u2019t wait forever to get those shoes!\u201d<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The hourglass the Wicked Witch of the West used in The Wizard of Oz to taunt Dorothy, the hourglass sold at auction for $495,000 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/mrRveBGkon\">pic.twitter.com\/mrRveBGkon<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Mike Sington (@MikeSington) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MikeSington\/status\/1607049371694280705?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 25, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The hourglass is described on the auction site as measuring 20 inches high and 11.5 inches wide. \u201cGothic frame\u201d That was it \u201cexpertly crafted by studio artisans of wood and papier-m\u00e2ch\u00e9 with winged gargoyles perched atop three spiraled columns. The glass element is crafted of hand-blown glass filled with red glitter (added later for display, as the glitter does not flow through the narrow neck of the glass).\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While there were many versions of the hourglass created for filming, the one that recently sold at auction was made out of wood and papier-m\u00e2ch\u00e9. The outlet also noted that other versions were made from resin and wood.<\/p>\n<p>The hourglass is also used during the climax of the film when the Wicked Witch tells Dorothy and her friends who had come to rescue her \u2014 Cowardly Lion, Tin Man, and Scarecrow \u2014 that they weren\u2019t going anywhere.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGoing so soon? I wouldn\u2019t hear of it.
