Their children were two and three years old at the time of their divorce.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt just took me down,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/drew-barrymore-deeply-apologizes-for-offending-people-by-making-light-of-depp-heard-trial\">Barrymore<\/a> shared. \u201cThere are times where you can look at someone you think is a strong person and see them so broken and go, \u2018How the f*** did they get there?\u2019 And I was that person. I broke.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was just trying to numb the pain and feel good \u2014 and alcohol totally did that for me,\u201d She continued. \u201cThe drinking thing for me was a constant, like, \u2018You cannot change. You are weak and incapable of doing what\u2019s best for you. It was about these kids that I cared so much about. And then I probably cared so much that I was only giving to them and not taking care of myself. It was a messy, painful, excruciating walk through the fire and come back to life kind of trajectory.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The following December 2021 events will be <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/drew-barrymore-sobriety-mental-health\/\">actress shared<\/a>\u00a0that she had not had a drink\u00a0for two and a half years.<\/p>\n<p>A host of \u201cThe Drew Barrymore Show\u201d also talked about her divorce, explaining that there had been no singular event that led to it \u2014 which in some ways had made the situation even more difficult.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere was no scandal.
