According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2022\/12\/21\/business\/thursday-flight-cancellations\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CNN<\/a>, another 2,200 flights were canceled on Friday, and over 100 flights scheduled for Saturday, Christmas Eve, have already been canceled. Credit: Scott Olson\/Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>NWS said that \u201cWinter weather hazards remain in effect from the Canadian border south to the Rio Grande, Gulf Coast, and central Florida Peninsula while spanning from the Pacific Northwest to the Eastern Seaboard,\u201d adding that the warning \u201cdepicts one of the greatest extents of winter weather warnings and advisories ever.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In Buffalo, New York, wind gusts of up to 70 mph are <a href=\"https:\/\/forecast.weather.gov\/product.php?site=BUF&#038;issuedby=BUF&#038;product=AFD&#038;format=CI&#038;version=20&#038;glossary=1&#038;highlight=off\">expected<\/a> Friday, and the city could receive up to three feet of snow over the weekend. Meanwhile, nearly 1,500 miles away in Cheyenne, Wyoming, residents saw a <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NWSCheyenne\/status\/1605667970667069440\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">record-breaking temperature drop<\/a>, going from 43 degrees to 3 degrees in just 30 minutes.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The arctic blast is affecting temperatures as far south as Dallas, which <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wfaa.com\/article\/weather\/dfw-weather-cold-christmas-weekend\/287-67ff83a9-b764-4039-ae16-5ec454e9e773\">saw<\/a> a low of 11 degrees Friday morning, and Tampa, Florida, whose residents will wake up to near-freezing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cltampa.com\/news\/freeze-watches-issued-across-tampa-bay-ahead-of-holiday-weekend-14795597\">temperatures<\/a> Saturday morning. Travel hubs Chicago and New York are also experiencing brutal conditions as thousands of travelers are stranded at airports after canceled flights. A winter storm warning remains in effect in the Windy City as the temperature hovers around 0 degrees. <\/p>\n<p>New York <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnewyork.com\/weather\/high-tide-ny-floods-state-of-emergency-driving-bans-in-effect-ahead-of-dangerous-wind-chill\/4011199\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">declared<\/a> a state of emergency due to rapidly dropping temperatures expected throughout the day Friday.
