So, we\u2019re not in each other\u2019s face all the time. He\u2019s not in the business, so we have different interests, but yet we have the things we love to do together,\u201d she continued. \u201cSo it was meant to be, I think. He was the one I was supposed to have and vice versa.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Parton also echoed the classic marriage advice of having a sense of humor, even when things go wrong.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe both have a warped sense of humor. And I think humor, honestly, is one of the best things when you\u2019re married like that. Even if you have a problem, if you have a great sense of humor, if you say something you can\u2019t take back [you] usually have some crazy way of getting out of it,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>And the \u201cJolene\u201d singer said they\u2019re not especially mean to each other. \u201cWe\u2019ve never had, you know, serious arguments to say bad things to each other we have to take back,\u201d Parton revealed.<\/p>\n<p>According to Parton\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/dollyparton.com\/life-and-career\/carl-dean-husband\/4406\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">website<\/a>, the couple met outside the Wishy Washy laundromat when she was 18 and he was 21. \u201cI was surprised and delighted that while he talked to me, he looked at my face (a rare thing for me),\u201d she shared of their first meeting. \u201cHe seemed to be genuinely interested in finding out who I was and what I was about.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He has also admitted feeling smitten at first sight.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy first thought was I\u2019m gonna marry that girl,\u201d Dean shared during their 50th wedding anniversary vow renewal in 2016, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.etonline.com\/news\/190615_dolly_parton_and_carl_dean_renew_wedding_vows_for_50th_wedding_anniversary\">per<\/a> Entertainment Tonight. \u201cMy second thought was, \u2018Lord she\u2019s good lookin.\u2019 And that was the day my life began.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>During a previous interview, the country icon said she loves that Dean isn\u2019t part of the industry.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re completely opposite, but that\u2019s what makes it fun,\u201d she <a href=\"https:\/\/www.people.com\/article\/dolly-parton-husband-carl-dean-interview\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">told<\/a> People Magazine in 2015. \u201cI never know what he\u2019s gonna say or do. He\u2019s always surprising me. My husband is a good man, first of all. He\u2019s a deep person, but he has a great and warped sense of humor. He makes me laugh and entertains me.
