Brown\/AFP via Getty Images)<\/figure>\n<h2>Biden Admin Pushes for Zero-Emission Vehicles<\/h2>\n<p>The move comes as the Biden administration works toward transitioning to zero-emission vehicles and continues to push for Americans to use electric vehicles, despite them being\u00a0largely unaffordable for many.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEPA is taking significant action to protect public health, especially the health of 72 million people living near truck freight routes in America, including our most vulnerable populations in historically overburdened communities,\u201d\u00a0said EPA Administrator Michael S. Regan in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut we\u2019re not stopping there. This is just the first action under EPA\u2019s Clean Trucks Plan to pave the way toward a zero-emission future. (Kevin Lamarque\/Reuters)<\/figure>\n<h2>New Rule Will Be a \u2018Challenge to Implement\u2019<\/h2>\n<p>The new rule also requires vehicle makers to better ensure that engines and emission control systems work properly on the road.<\/p>\n<p>According to the EPA,\u00a0catalytic reduction technology is available for truck engine manufacturers to meet the large reduction in\u00a0nitrogen oxide starting in 2027.
