According to Denver-based <a href=\"https:\/\/www.9news.com\/weather\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">9News<\/a>, weather in the city is expected to drop from about 50 degrees Wednesday to four degrees below zero Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>The National Weather Service station in Boulder issued a stark warning for residents, noting that Thursday could see life-threatening temperature drops. \u201cLife Threatening Cold Arrives Late Wednesday,\u201d NWS Boulder wrote on Twitter. \u201cWe promise that\u2019s not an exaggeration. This is likely to be the coldest day in 32 years in Denver so many people have not experienced a cold snap like this. According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.accuweather.com\/en\/winter-weather\/winter-storm-to-evolve-into-bomb-cyclone-as-it-produces-a-blizzard-in-midwest\/1387482\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Accuweather<\/a>, the storm will dump between six and 12 inches of snow in a large area from northeastern Kansas to Michigan, Wisconsin, and southern Canada. The storm will then undergo a process called \u201cbombogenesis\u201d \u2014 the barometric pressure is expected to drop rapidly, causing high winds to rush in and swirl around the center of the storm, creating blizzard conditions in states including Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Wisconsin, Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska and Missouri \u2014 otherwise known as a \u201cbomb cyclone.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Between Thursday night and Friday, a rapid freeze is forecast for nearly the entire East Coast, from Maine all the way down through Appalachia and into southeastern Missouri and Arkansas. The freeze could possibly stretch as far as southern North Carolina, into South Carolina and the northern areas of Georgia, Mississippi, and Alabama, Accuweather forecasts.<\/p>\n<p>By Friday, the storm will pass over New England and the Northeast; cold rain or snow will be hit with a blast of cold air that could create a flash freeze in the area, <a href=\"https:\/\/weather.com\/storms\/winter\/news\/2022-12-21-winter-storm-elliott-forecast-bomb-cyclone-blizzard-damaging-winds\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">weather.com<\/a> reports. The National Weather Service station in <a href=\"https:\/\/forecast.weather.gov\/product.php?site=BUF&#038;issuedby=BUF&#038;product=AFD&#038;format=CI&#038;version=2&#038;glossary=1&#038;highlight=off\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Buffalo<\/a> called it a \u201conce in a generation\u201d winter storm, and said that the area would be impacted particularly hard, with damaging winds of 60-70 miles per hour and heavy lake effect snow.<\/p>\n<p>In all, 37 states have severe weather alerts, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2022\/12\/21\/weather\/christmas-arctic-winter-storm-wednesday-wxn\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CNN<\/a> reported, stretching as far south as the southern border with Mexico.
