The fresh order from Georgia Supreme Court says the Fulton County case is \u201cremanded to the Court of Appeals for reconsideration in light of<em> Sons of Confederate Veterans v. Henry County Board of Commissioners<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Georgia Supreme Court determined in October that the Sons of Confederate Veterans, a group that sued to prevent the removal of Confederate monuments, did not qualify <a href=\"https:\/\/www.news-daily.com\/news\/state-supreme-court-dismisses-lawsuits-challenging-removal-of-confederate-statues\/article_2d6118d3-a972-568c-9864-6b823255289c.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">as a \u201ccommunity stakeholder\u201d<\/a> and therefore lacked standing in their suits against Henry and Newton counties. But the high court did reverse a lower court dismissal for a complaint lodged by an individual plaintiff in Newton County, T. Davis Humphries, a resident of that county, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.news-daily.com\/news\/state-supreme-court-dismisses-lawsuits-challenging-removal-of-confederate-statues\/article_2d6118d3-a972-568c-9864-6b823255289c.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">according to Capitol Beat News Service<\/a>.<\/p>\n[embedded content]\n<p>The 2020 election lawsuit in Fulton County was brought by nine Georgia voters, including Garland Favorito, the co-founder of the group VoterGA, seeking an inspection of roughly 147,000 absentee ballots. In an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.realclearinvestigations.com\/articles\/2021\/06\/08\/why_a_judge_has_georgia_vote_fraud_on_his_mind_pristine_biden_ballots_that_look_xeroxed_779795.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">interview with RealClearInvestigations<\/a> in the summer of 2021, Favorito said there could be \u201cmajor absentee-ballot fraud in Fulton County involving 10,000 to 20,000 probably false ballots.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But investigators in Georgia were unable to find evidence showing fraudulent or counterfeit ballots in Fulton County, per a court filing <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/atlanta-georgia-lawsuits-elections-general-elections-a8d1f6616912cdaee2505a5f16285b38\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported by the Associated Press<\/a>. And as The Atlanta Journal-Constitution <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ajc.com\/politics\/georgia-headed-toward-another-presidential-election-audit\/O6WU557RGZACJL3PUHVNKIP57M\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">noted last year<\/a>, the review sought by the plaintiffs cannot change the results of the 2020 election, which were long ago certified and affirmed with recounts.<\/p>\n<p>Still, the lawsuit attracted the attention of high-profile politicians, including former President Donald Trump, who lost to President Joe Biden in Georgia by about 12,000 votes.
