Twenty million people have joined the Medicaid program since the PHE began nearly three years ago, and the states are faced with additional costs, they said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile the enhanced federal match provides some assistance to blunt the increasing costs due to higher enrollment numbers in our Medicaid programs, states are required to increase our non-federal match to adequately cover all enrollees and cannot disenroll members from the program unless they do so voluntarily,\u201d the governors said in their letter. \u201cMaking the situation worse, we know that a considerable number of individuals have returned to employer sponsored coverage or are receiving coverage through the individual market, and yet states still must still account and pay for their Medicaid enrollment in our non-federal share.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The governors said they have the \u201ctools and information\u201d to protect their citizens against COVID-19.<\/p>\n<div id=\"subscribe\" class=\"email-signup inarticle\">\n<h4>Support Conservative Voices!<\/h4>\n<h5><strong>Sign up to receive the latest<\/strong> political news, insight, and commentary delivered directly to your inbox.<\/h5>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong>RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/thepoliticalinsider.com\/desantis-calls-for-grand-jury-probe-into-covid-vaccines-says-cdc-info-not-worth-the-paper-its-printed-on\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">DeSantis Calls For Grand Jury Probe Into COVID Vaccines: Says CDC Info \u2018Not Worth the Paper It\u2019s Printed On\u2019<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou recognized this yourself in a 60 Minutes interview in September when you said, \u2018The pandemic is over,&#8217;\u201d the governors said. \u201cAdditionally, the United States Senate passed a bipartisan resolution, 61-37, to terminate the national emergency on November 15, 2022.
