The Democratic National Committee, as well as the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, have issued similar commitments as bankruptcy lawyers attempt to claw back funds on behalf of customers and investors.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFollowing the serious allegations against FTX, Senate Majority PAC previously set aside the contribution amounts from Sam Bankman-Fried and Nishad Singh with the intention of returning the funds once we receive proper direction from federal law enforcement officials based on their legal proceedings,\u201d a spokeswoman for the Senate Majority PAC confirmed to CNBC in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2022\/12\/20\/ftx-democrats-senate-majority-pac-to-return-bankman-fried-donations.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">statement<\/a> on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>Bankman-Fried <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/here-are-the-democrats-and-republicans-who-received-campaign-cash-linked-to-bankrupt-crypto-empire-ftx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">contributed<\/a> roughly $39 million to Democratic nominees during the recent midterm election cycle, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.opensecrets.org\/outside-spending\/top_donors\/2022?disp=D&#038;type=V&#038;superonly=N\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">data<\/a> from Open Secrets, which ranked him as the country\u2019s sixth-largest individual midterm donor. He said in a recent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/i-dont-even-know-how-to-code-mit-grad-and-now-broke-crypto-ceo-sam-bankman-fried-tells-niche-vlogger\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">interview<\/a> that he donated \u201cabout the same amount\u201d to Republicans through dark money channels to avoid scrutiny from journalists.<\/p>\n<p>Beyond his extensive political donations, including contributions that rendered him the second-largest contributor to the campaign behind President Joe Biden, the self-proclaimed \u201ceffective altruist\u201d also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/left-of-center-media-accepted-millions-from-democrat-donor-and-disgraced-crypto-wunderkind-sam-bankman-fried\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">gave<\/a> millions of dollars to media outlets and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/sam-bankman-fried-secretly-helped-crypto-news-outlet-ceo-buy-apartment-in-the-bahamas\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">provided loans<\/a> to the chief executive of cryptocurrency publication The Block.<\/p>\n<p>Joseph Bankman and Barbara Fried, the parents of Bankman-Fried, are also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/mother-of-disgraced-crypto-billionaire-sam-bankman-fried-is-a-democratic-fundraiser-who-once-wrote-essay-blasting-personal-responsibility\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">well-connected<\/a> Democrats and Stanford Law School professors. The couple will be investigated by lawyers for links to fraudulent activity at their son\u2019s cryptocurrency empire.<\/p>\n<p>FTX, which is now led by bankruptcy attorney John Ray, announced in a Monday <a href=\"https:\/\/www.prnewswire.com\/news-releases\/ftx-debtors-announce-process-for-voluntary-return-of-avoidable-payments-301706546.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">press release<\/a> that the company has been approached by \u201ca number of recipients of contributions or other payments\u201d from Bankman-Fried and other executives. The company will appeal to the United States Bankruptcy Court for access to all funds not returned voluntarily.<\/p>\n<p>FTX filed for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/30-year-old-billionaire-loses-entire-fortune-overnight-as-his-bahamas-based-cryptocurrency-empire-implodes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">bankruptcy<\/a> last month after users learned that the company was intertwined with sister firm Alameda Research; both were controlled by Bankman-Fried and other amateur executives working from a luxury penthouse in the Bahamas. The entrepreneur was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/breaking-democrat-megadonor-sam-bankman-fried-arrested-in-bahamas-faces-criminal-charges-in-u-s\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">arrested<\/a> last week by authorities in the island nation, where his companies were headquartered, and agreed to be extradited to the United States.<\/p>\n<p>Damien Williams, the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, indicted Bankman-Fried of conspiracy to commit wire fraud, conspiracy to commit commodities fraud, conspiracy to commit securities fraud, conspiracy to commit money laundering, and conspiracy to defraud the Federal Election Commission and commit campaign finance violations, according to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/usao-sdny\/pr\/united-states-attorney-announces-charges-against-ftx-founder-samuel-bankman-fried\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">press release<\/a> from the Justice Department.<\/p>\n<p>Bankman-Fried is being held in Fox Hill Prison, the small island nation\u2019s only government detention center.
