The agency is currently holding an investigation and is supposed to release an initial accident report this week.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The incident comes after a similar situation occurred on a Hawaiian Airlines flight on Sunday, resulting in 20 people going to the hospital. In total, 36 people on the Hawaiian Airlines flight were hurt. The plane touched down at Daniel K. Inouye International Airport in Honolulu on Sunday morning. Eleven people were admitted with serious conditions, while nine others were stable.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cInjuries included a serious head injury, lacerations, bruising and loss of consciousness,\u201d Shayne Enright, a Honolulu Emergency Medical Services spokeswoman, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2022\/12\/18\/us\/hawaii-flight-turbulence.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a>, per The New York Times.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cWe are also very happy and we feel fortunate that there were not any deaths or other critical injuries,\u201d \u00a0Jim Ireland, director of Honolulu Emergency Medical Services, said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cIt\u2019s the holidays, everybody\u2019s trying to come here for vacation or come back home,\u201d he added. \u201cIt\u2019s generally a time when people are happy. And so this is obviously something that they didn\u2019t plan for in their journey here.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Jon Snook, the executive vice president and chief operating officer for Hawaiian Air, told reporters that the \u201cfasten seatbelt\u201d sign was illuminated when the incident took place.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cSometimes, these air pockets occur with no warning. It\u2019s rare to have that level of extreme turbulence. It was a very extreme case of mid-air turbulence,\u201d Snook <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hawaiinewsnow.com\/2022\/12\/18\/multiple-injuries-reported-after-plane-lands-honolulus-airport-following-apparent-turbulence\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a>. \u201cWe\u2019re very thankful the extent of the injuries was not critical.
