After more than 3.6 million votes were cast in a 24-hour survey, 58.7% of respondents called for the immediate return of the banished accounts Musk accused of having doxxed his exact location in real-time. Accounts who doxxed my location will have their suspension lifted now,\u201d Musk said.<\/p>\n<p>Within moments, accounts that were suspended Thursday as part of a larger crackdown on those who shared or posted links to the location of private jets, including one owned by Musk, began to return. Among the restored accounts were journalists such as <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/donie\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CNN\u2019s Donie O\u2019Sullivan<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/rmac18\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">New York Times tech reporter Ryan Mac<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/drewharwell\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Washington Post reporter Drew Harwell<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/atrupar\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Aaron Rupar<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Mashable\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MattBinder\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Matt Binder<\/a>, who also was allowed back, quickly began tweeting again to mark his return.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe people have spoken. CNN even said it would <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/cnn-threatens-to-reevaluate-relationship-with-twitter-after-reporter-suspended\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u201creevaluate\u201d<\/a> its relationship with Twitter depending on the explanation given for the suspensions. All this stemmed from a flurry of activity on Wednesday when Twitter <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TwitterSafety\/status\/1603165959669354496\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">updated its private information policy<\/a> and suspended an account that used flight data to track Musk\u2019s private jet and similar accounts.<\/p>\n<p>Musk claimed on Twitter that a \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/twitter-elonjet-account-suspended\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">crazy stalker<\/a>\u201d attacked a car in Los Angeles carrying one of his young children, and he told journalists they would get <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/youre-not-special-musk-crashes-journos-chat-after-twitter-doxxing-bans\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">no \u201cspecial treatment\u201d<\/a> as it related to sharing information on someone\u2019s location in real-time.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSame doxxing rules apply to \u2018journalists\u2019 as to everyone else,\u201d Musk said in one tweet Thursday. \u201cThey posted my exact real-time location, basically assassination coordinates, in (obvious) direct violation of Twitter terms of service,\u201d he said in another.<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">They posted my exact real-time location, basically assassination coordinates, in (obvious) direct violation of Twitter terms of service<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Elon Musk (@elonmusk) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/elonmusk\/status\/1603587970832793600?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 16, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Although Musk initially said those users he accused of engaging in doxxing would receive a seven-day suspension, he then turned to a poll. The first one Musk posted, which had four options and showed a plurality in support of immediately reinstating accounts, was halted after he claimed there were too many options. For instance, media personality Keith Olbermann\u2019s account <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/KeithOlbermann\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">was still suspended<\/a> nine hours after Musk\u2019s reinstatement announcement. But Olbermann got around his suspension on Friday, tweeting and <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TomJumboGrumbo\/status\/1603644568724979714\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">sharing a video of himself chastising<\/a> Musk on an account dedicated to dog rescue and adoption.<\/p>\n<p>Also not returned were accounts <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JxckSweeney\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">run by Jack Sweeney<\/a>, the 20-year-old college student who appears to be central to the Twitter clampdown. Sweeney set up several profiles tracking the planes of wealthy people, including the popular <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ElonJet\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">@ElonJet<\/a> account that followed Musk\u2019s private jet.
