And after the initial misdiagnosis, her appendix eventually ruptured \u2014 turning what could have been a relatively routine procedure into a 12-week ordeal.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was so tired, I would sleep through the whole day. My stomach hurt so bad, I\u2019ve never been in that amount of extreme pain before,\u201d Alice said.<\/p>\n<p>Jennifer Tapper, the <a href=\"https:\/\/dailywire.com\/news\/you-dont-use-these-tools-jake-tapper-corners-biden-econ-adviser-for-blowing-smoke-about-inflation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CNN anchor\u2019s<\/a> wife and Alice\u2019s mother, said that she hadn\u2019t wanted to think about the possibility but that she was truly scared that she could lose her daughter.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat was the scariest thing I\u2019ve ever seen.\u00a0The life was just leaving her. I just thought why is her skin so green and why are her hands and feet freezing?\u201d she asked.<\/p>\n<p>Alice explained that she had begun vomiting on a Saturday morning, and when she just didn\u2019t get any better, her parents eventually took her to the hospital. The doctors initially determined that she probably had food poisoning or gastroenteritis.<\/p>\n<p>The Tappers asked whether a sonogram might be warranted, and were told that it wasn\u2019t necessary \u2014 but Tapper used his resources to get contact information for the hospital administrator, after which a sonogram was finally ordered. The test revealed that Alice had appendicitis, but that her appendix had already burst and the infected fluids had spilled into her abdominal cavity \u2014 which made immediate surgery impossible.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI had to get two laparoscopic drains at first. And then after they discharged me and sent me home, I went back to the hospital because I still wasn\u2019t feeling better and they had to put another laparoscopic drain. I ended up getting my appendix out 12 weeks later, in March,\u201d Alice added.<\/p>\n<p>Tapper concluded the segment by explaining that he hadn\u2019t come forward with his daughter\u2019s story to attack the doctors or the hospital \u2014 but rather because he was aware that it was the resources he had access to that may have ultimately helped doctors to save Alice\u2019s life.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe average family would not have been able to do that and the average family may have very well lost that child,\u201d he said, adding, \u201cThe medical community needs to rethink how they rule out appendicitis \u2026 Please do not just say, no, this is viral, do not back into diagnoses \u2014 I\u2019m sorry, I\u2019m a little emotional watching that piece.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>WATCH:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">My colleague and friend <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/jaketapper?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@jaketapper<\/a> underwent a horrifying ordeal with his daughter Alice.
