Viewers immediately noticed that the short clip was actually a parody of Stanley Kubrick\u2019s classic \u201c2001: A Space Odyssey\u201d from 1968.<\/p>\n[embedded content]\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/topic\/entertainment\">trailer<\/a> is narrated by Helen Mirren. She explains how Barbie changed the toy market forever by introducing the concept of dolls that were grown-up rather than babies. Little girls are seen smashing their baby dolls on rocks and tossing them aside upon encountering a larger-than-life Barbie (Robbie) on the beach. She\u2019s outfitted in the classic black-and-white bathing suit that was worn by the first Barbie doll ever sold.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Robbie pulls down her sunglasses and winks before the audience is shown a glimpse of her neon-colored world, including quick clips of synchronized dancing and Gosling sporting blonde hair and a vest.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cBarbie\u201d movie is already being pitched as something completely unique. \u201cPeople generally hear Barbie and think, \u2018I know what that movie is going to be,&#8217;\u201d Robbie <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vogue.co.uk\/news\/article\/margot-robbie-vogue-interview\">told<\/a> British Vogue previously. \u201cThen they hear that Greta Gerwig is writing and directing it, and they\u2019re like, \u2018Oh, well, maybe I don\u2019t\u2026&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Gosling said his character of Ken in \u201cBarbie\u201d may look perfect, but he\u2019s emotionally complicated under the surface.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat Ken life is even harder than the \u2018Gray Man\u2019 life, I think,\u201d the actor said while promoting his action thriller movie \u201cThe Gray Man\u201d earlier this year, per <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/ryan-gosling-recalls-weird-sign-he-was-meant-to-play-ken-in-barbie-movie\">The Daily Wire<\/a>. \u201cKen\u2019s got no money, he\u2019s got no job, he\u2019s got no car, he\u2019s got no house. He\u2019s going through some stuff.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s not what you think it is, unless it is,\u201d Gosling continued. \u201cAnd then you know what it is, but I don\u2019t think that\u2019s what you think it is. Wait, what are we talking about?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The actor joked that Mattel would \u201cbox [him] up\u201d if he revealed any details about the upcoming movie. Earlier this year, co-star Simu Liu described \u201cBarbie\u201d as \u201cwild\u201d and \u201cincredibly unique,\u201d saying, \u201cI wish I could just show you what we do day-to-day because it\u2019s crazy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Details on the plot and casting are scarce as the production team maintains total secrecy ahead of the film\u2019s release. But in May, a New York Times writer <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/kylebuchanan\/status\/1527014541770608642\">shared<\/a> on Twitter that multiple actors and actresses will play versions of Ken and Barbie in the movie.
