Not long after his takeover of Twitter, he shocked mainstream media by axing half the workforce and daring to tell those leftovers to expect to work hard and in-person.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Who does this guy think he is, some sort of successful businessman?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Anyway, here we are; Twitter is still operating, and depending on who you believe is working better than ever.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">It would appear that, at least with Twitter, less really is more; fewer deadweight employees equals more efficiencies and innovation. With those new programs came new positions and the requirement to fill those positions with new hires as quickly as possible. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Adding these new programs and positions helps pad the political portfolios of Congressmen who get to tout the creation of the said programs and federal \u201cjobs.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Congress coming up with new positions and programs trickles down throughout the agencies, creating a plague of fragmented authority, duplication of labor, and overlapping responsibility. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.heritage.org\/government-regulation\/commentary\/bloated-federal-agencies-have-become-the-norm-heres-the-key-sizing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">excellent examples<\/a> of this interlocking web of redundancy.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Meadows on why Trump hasn&#8217;t fired FDA Commissioner Stephen Hahn if he really believes the FDA is working to sabotage coronavirus treatments: &#8220;It&#8217;s almost impossible to fire a federal employee.&#8221; \ud83d\ude33 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/fN2mIOHXJ3\">pic.twitter.com\/fN2mIOHXJ3<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Aaron Rupar (@atrupar) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/atrupar\/status\/1297538999230386177?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 23, 2020<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The FDA is responsible for inspecting shelled eggs, while the USDA is responsible for examining liquid, frozen, and dehydrated eggs. Why is this responsibility split?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">For absolutely no reason. Eggs are eggs. I\u2019m not an egg expert, but I\u2019m also not an idiot; there is no reason for this to be split between two agencies.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/thepoliticalinsider.com\/desantis-calls-for-grand-jury-probe-into-covid-vaccines-says-cdc-info-not-worth-the-paper-its-printed-on\/?utm_source=home-headline-stories\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">DeSantis Calls For Grand Jury Probe Into COVID Vaccines: Says CDC Info \u2018Not Worth the Paper It\u2019s Printed On\u2019<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">This inefficiency was highlighted in a 2017 Government Accountability Office <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gao.gov\/assets\/gao-17-491sp.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">report<\/a> that found 395 examples in the federal government similar to the one mentioned above. The GAO estimated that if the federal government cut such redundancies, it would save tens of billions of dollars.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Flashback<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">I remember when former President Donald Trump announced his executive orders to make it easier to hold federal employees accountable. I remember it because I clapped when I heard about it in my living room.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">A month into his presidency, Trump <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/news\/the-fix\/wp\/2017\/02\/28\/president-trumps-friendly-fox-and-friends-interview-went-exactly-about-how-you-think-it-would\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">told Fox News<\/a>:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cYou know we have so many people in government, even me, I look at some of the jobs and it\u2019s people over people over people.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">He went on to say one of his least controversial statements:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cThere are hundreds and hundreds of jobs that are totally unnecessary jobs.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">He wasn\u2019t and still isn\u2019t wrong. But, unfortunately, President Trump could not do much to change the system.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">I do NOT see the civil service protection amendment (which would prevent a return of Trump&#8217;s Schedule F) that was included in the House bill <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/c1R9B6gR5O\">https:\/\/t.co\/c1R9B6gR5O<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Bill Scher (@billscher) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/billscher\/status\/1600315695706800129?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 7, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h3><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">A Comeback<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">One of the first things President Joe Biden did was <a href=\"https:\/\/federalnewsnetwork.com\/workforce\/2021\/01\/biden-to-repeal-schedule-f-overturn-trump-workforce-policies-with-new-executive-order\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">rescind<\/a> most of what President Trump had in place, including the executive orders to transition many government jobs to \u201cSchedule F\u201d employment. Almost all federal jobs enjoy layers and layers of protection against removal.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">President Trump tried to transition many of these jobs to \u2018at will\u2019 employment, making it substantially easier to fire poor-performing employees. Overall it was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/2022\/07\/22\/trump-presidency-schedule-f-federal-employees\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">estimated<\/a> that 50,000 out of the over two million federal employees would\u2019ve transitioned to at-will employment status.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Being an at-will employee means you can be fired without much need for the manager to go through hoops. If you knew your manager could fire you for not meeting standards without having to explain themselves in detail and provide oodles of paperwork, many employees would be motivated to work harder.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">While Democrats and unions weren\u2019t fans of Trump\u2019s executive orders, 51% of federal workers did <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailysignal.com\/2018\/06\/12\/trump-executive-orders-are-surprisingly-popular-with-federal-employees\/?_gl=1*yo51re*_ga*MTg2NTAyOTM3My4xNjcwOTM4NDQw*_ga_W14BT6YQ87*MTY3MTAyNjg0Ny4zLjEuMTY3MTAyODUwNS42MC4wLjA.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">approve<\/a>. When you think about it, that makes sense; most workers in any industry are hard workers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">But, unfortunately, those hard workers often are made to pick up the slack of the loafs. Then they are stuck in the same roles, unable to promote because those same loafs are rooted deep in their positions with no signs of moving up or out.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Rumor has it that if Donald Trump gets re-elected, he intends to reinstate his plans for the federal workforce. Welcome news for those of us not excited about 87,000 <a href=\"https:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/news\/irs-says-87-000-hires-120000616.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">new IRS hires<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/katv.com\/news\/nation-world\/dei-head-kelisa-wing-blurring-the-lines-between-fed-work-and-private-work-watchdog-says\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Chiefs of Diversity<\/a> making bank telling children they are racists.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">I don\u2019t think the loafs in Congress on either side of the aisle will make it easy for him, though.
