Andy Biggs (R-AZ) is leading a group of House Republicans on Tuesday in calling for the impeachment of Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.<\/p>\n<p>Biggs, a House Freedom Caucus member and leading voice in advocating for improved border security, will be joined by some of his colleagues in the caucus as well as several others in highlighting the surge of illegal migration that has taken place under the Biden administration.<\/p>\n<p class=\"a8d-pre\">Biggs first <a href=\"https:\/\/biggs.house.gov\/media\/press-releases\/congressman-biggs-files-articles-impeachment-against-dhs-secretary-mayorkas\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">introduced<\/a> articles of impeachment against Mayorkas in August 2021, citing that Mayorkas was \u201cpresiding over a reckless abandonment of border security and immigration enforcement.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>Mayorkas has become a top target for House Republicans, who will take hold of the majority in January.<\/p>\n<p>In anticipation of their majority powers, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/11\/22\/kevin-mccarthy-calls-for-alejandro-mayorkas-to-resign-threatens-impeachment-if-dhs-secretary-resists\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">called for<\/a> Mayorkas to resign and vowed, if he does not resign, to investigate whether an impeachment inquiry against Mayorkas would be justified.
