So, firstly I wanted to express my gratitude for all the people who have helped me\u00a0to remain clean and sober. It is never done on your own.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>WATCH:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn fact, even though it\u2019s often seen and celebrated as a personal achievement,\u201d he added. \u201cIt is in essence, a community and spiritual achievement.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBecause what I have been taught and shown is that it is impossible for a person like me to not drink and use drugs unless I have sufficient ongoing support from people that understand what it\u2019s like to feel that drugs or alcohol, or, you know, certain behaviors are necessary in order to feel okay,\u201d Brand continued.<\/p>\n<p>The actor called sobriety a type of \u201cawakening\u201d from the \u201cworld of attachment,\u201d admitting it\u2019s an \u201congoing process\u201d to this day.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBecause I still, every day without crack and heroin, without alcohol, still feel strongly, a strong requirement, a strong requirement to seek approval or connection or validation \u2026 from the outside world,\u201d Brand explained.<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cForgetting Sarah Marshall\u201d star then offered hope to those who might be currently struggling with their own addictions, saying even if you feel it\u2019s hopeless, you\u2019re wrong, and things can change.<\/p>\n<p>He then listed what he called the pathways to making that happen, like living a \u201clife of purpose,\u201d \u201cfinding a spiritual path,\u201d and \u201cmaking amends.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/trying-to-f-up-ordinary-people-russell-brand-rants-against-the-great-reset-green-energy-agenda\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Brand<\/a> has been very open in the past about his addiction and sobriety.
